What A Great Place to Shop!
Meet Laurie & Denise
Have you ever driven past a business for what seems like forever and never stopped in? Well, I have! I have been driving past the Hyde Park Jewelers in Hyde Park, NY (in Dutchess County) for 30 years and never stopped in. Last week, while having lunch with friends we all mentioned we needed new batteries for our watches. I asked my friends where they went for new batteries...they both said The Hyde Park Jewelers.
A few days later I was on my way to my real estate office in Poughkeepsie and decided to grab my watches and stop in at The Hyde Park Jewelers on my way by. When I entered the store I was immediately greeted by two lovely, very professional women, Laurie Cusher the owner and her associate Denise. I was also "greeted" by beautifully done displays of wonderful jewelry, many of which were not items I have seen in other jewelery stores. The store itself was bright, cheerful and spotless.
I told them I only needed watch batteries and I was treated like the most important customer in the world! I said I would stop back later in the day to pick them up and then I started to chat with Laurie We chatted a bit about her shop, my work as a real estate agent and my two friends who referred me to her shop. Both women knew my friends by name.
As we chatted I learned that Laurie was a second generation owner of the shop. Her father had started the business 55 years ago and Laurie knew at a very young age she wanted "to be a jeweler when she grew up." She graduated from the Bulova School of Watchmaking in 1975and began work the very next day. She said, "here I am 34 years later and still enjoying my job!" She has been going to her shop almost every day ever since. Her love for her work shows in everything she does!
So, if you have been driving by The Hyde Park Jewelers forever, I urge you to stop in, introduce yourself and be treated to some of the best customer service you will ever receive.
