What the heck is he up to now?!

I've been on a sort of hiatus from Active Rain as I cram for the CRP exam - held once a year - this year May 15.

What in the heck is a CRP?

According to the ERC (Employee Relocation Council):

"Established in 1990, Worldwide ERC®'s Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) Program has quickly become a symbol of professionalism and is the industry's premiere certification program. The CRP® designation formally recognizes those who have mastered extensive knowledge on the principles and practices of relocation.

A major purpose of this program is the achievement of a common and universal understanding of the entire employee relocation field and recognition of those professionals who demonstrate mastery."

So why in the world would you want that?!

Consider this - the vast majority of corporate relocation business is directed towards the relatively few holders of the CRP designation.  For example - in the Phoenix area, there are only THIRTEEN Real Estate Agents / Brokers who have the CRP designation.  Phoenix is in the top 10 cities for relocation transactions - and probably one of the top three for inbound relocations.  With over 24,000 relocation transactions per year in and out of the Phoenix area - that's a lot of business up for grabs!

So....in the words of "Arnold"...."I'll be back!"....after May 15th.....

Good luck Tony,

Please keep us posted on what kind of an increase in business you notice over time with this new designation.

Fran - Thanks for the encouragement.  It takes about 6 weeks before we are informed whether we passed or not!  Then - there is an entire marketing campaign to implement.  Those who have the designation report about a 6 month lag time from CRP designation to business results.  Solo agent CRPs average 40 transactions a year from this source.  I know of a relo department at another franchise in Phoenix that brought in over $3,000,000 in GCI in 2005 from this funnel.  I'll report back once I have results!

Tony, I wondered where you were ? Your blog subscription keep getting farther down my list. I thought you might be extremely busy. I know you will pass. There are not many agents in our area, that have this designation but I hear it is quite profitable from a RE/MAX agent out of our area.

Phoenix would be the perfect city to have it in. Let us know when you get it and how it helps your business, you'll still be around in a 6 months.
