Looking for a New Car

Owning a truck in the state of Tennessee has been great. Since moving here, I have used my pickup for many different chores. I have hauled furniture, moved soil, transported a ton of gravel, and loaded and unloaded a ton of wood. I am not quite sure where I would be without my Dodge Ram 1500. The fact of having it is a great benefit and I would not trade it in for the world.

Over the last month or two, I have been looking at new cars. The reason being is all I have is my 4x4 Dodge Ram. As much as I love my truck, I still have the need for a car. Over the years I have had vehicles from Chrysler, General Motors, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Lexus, Mercedes, Honda, and Toyota. I think that I have pretty much covered the array of vehicles.

With that said, one of my favorite was the Toyota Camry. I have to say that this car is roomy when you compare it to the Toyota Corolla. With me being 6 foot tall and 240 pounds, I am a big guy and I like to have room to spread out. This is especially true for when I go on long driving trips. There is nothing that I hate worse that being uncomfortable when I have to drive 60 miles or more. I do not even want to think about the trips that are 10 hours or more.

One other thought that I have had is buying a Toyota Prius. Though this is not a large car, it does get great gas mileage. I can not see being able to beat the 45 miles to the gallon. Even if you were to compare it to the Camry Hybrid to the Prius, the Prius still wins by more than 12 miles to the gallon. All in all, either would be a great choice.

If I were to become a car person - which I'm not ... I would head straight to the Honda dealer and purchase a new Accord.  They are reliable, get decent gas mileage and have lots of room. My husband had a 1989 Accord that he put 235,000 miles on before we sold it to a friend's son for $200.  The son is STILL driving it.  And that was about 4 years ago!

A Toyota Corolla was the first new car I bought for myself. Bought it right out of college and had it for almost 10 years. It ran great and got about 30 mpg. I think the Prius would be a good choice, that kind of gas mileage is hard to beat, or the Camry hybrid, still gets great mpg.
