A Change Occurs When You Start Blogging...

Ah yes... blogging! I first started blogging a few years ago on a personal blog. I was convinced by some friends that I needed to blog, especially since I was pregnant at the time and needed to be able to post my feelings (and of course, photos) of my new experience as a mother. After having my daughter, I started my career in real estate. Then I got to go pro in my blogging, so to speak.

There is a change that occurs when you start blogging. You see things differently throughout each day. You notice the details. "Ooooh, I could blog about that!" you declare to yourself. That is a great thing! Keep your mind turned on for blog food. It isn't just about posting regularly, its about providing your readers with quality content, great headlines, news, community events, your opinions, and much more. Keep it interesting, and you will keep them coming.

Now when the seasons change, I make sure to take a photo, post it on my blog, and share it with the world (well, mostly my friends and family that live across the country). And for our professional blogs, I keep tabs on conversations I have with clients and friends about real estate. If they are interested in something regarding the real estate market, financing, or our economy, I write about it!

Oh, and once you start blogging, you'll never want to stop. In fact, you'll likely want to become more a part of the internet community and get involved in social networking on Facebook, Twitter, Trulia, and other sites. You'll get sucked in, but it is a great thing! It can only help your business. Trust me!

Hi Chris,

Yup, I'm sucked in too!  I always seem to come up with ideas in the shower or when drifting off to sleep.  I jot them down in the notepad on my Blackberry.  My camera is now my best friend.  Things I took for granted before now get used in my blogs or uploaded to Flickr.  I started using Twitter on my website just to give snippets of the marktet and a couple of days ago the mayor of my town started following me and I don't even know him.  Strange but true.

I agree.  It seems there's been quite a few people who use blogging as an online journal.  It's quite therapuetic as well as informative.

Chris,

Yes, blogging definintely changes a lot about you and your business.  How neat that you started in a personal fashion and took it over into business...good for you!

We are entering a new era of marketing in our world; so, we are either in the game or out of the game.  Most have made the choice not to be in the game.  Let's see who is still in the game in 2 years.........

I've just gotten started with all of this, blogging, and reading blogs.

I've heard about it for quite some time, but chosen to put my time and attention toward other activities.

I used to be adept at things technological. But, as things change so much more quickly now, I seem to have missed a lot of leading edge activities. I don't know that I necessarily want to be on the leading edge -- a face in the wind can be a wind-burned face.

I have great aspirations that I can build my business and offer something back, all at the same time. Being the severely introverted person that I am, there is a certain degree of separation with blogging that isn't available face-to-face.

I welcome your suggestions.

Thanks.

Andrew - Being an introvert does not mean you can't succeed! In fact, blogging is a great way to put your face and name out there without actually being seen. When you start writing, you will feel more freedom in sharing your expertise, and your readers will appreciate that. Blogging really is rewarding, both for self and business. Keep at it!

Tim - It definitely will be interesting to see who is still in the game two years from now. I'll keep an eye out for you! ;)

Thanks for all the comments, ladies and gents!
