Fifty Days

50 DAYS IN OFFICE THAT IS, and what does that have to do with Real Estate........you might ask?

While this is great news for some, for others with all of their micro-managing, second guessing, cable punditry and other antics you might think he feels more like 50 Years or 50 Zillion Days!!!!

Blogger

Not that it matters but being an honest Blogger and for proper disclaimer, as communicated on other Blogs I have written regarding President Obama, I supported his views long before he became the President of the United States.  That should not be translated that I enthusiastically support ALL of his decisions, although I accept them.......for now.  The biggest gaff for me is his selection of key people in his cabinet that DID NOT PAY THEIR TAXES.  There are a few others but this one stands out.......but that's another Blog for another time, so hopefully going forward, anyone "thinking" about being in a leadership position at the White House documents they have complied with our tax code BEFORE THEY ARE ANNOUNCED AS A CANDIDATE!!!!

Now, back to this 50 thing.  I've voted in Presidential elections for a looooooong time, and I cannot recall the public's engagement of any election campaign like we experienced last year.  The numbers bear that point.  What candidate Obama (and the other candidates) developed was engagement for regular people to be a part of the process.  The issue is not whether you liked him or not, or even whether you supported him or not but rather - PEOPLE WERE AFFORDED (for various reasons) TO BE ENGAGED IN THE PROCESS.  Thus they became part of the game and were either teammates or opponents.

It's that spirit of engagement that has transcened into his Presidency, where for once....... good or bad, we as citizens have access or are being provided more information communicated by our leader THAN EVER BEFORE!!!!!!!!!

Again, it's not about agreeing with every decision or even some of them for that matter, as some still think we are in campaign mode and somehow January 20, 2009 slipped past them, as their micro-management traits, second guessing or naysayer perspective simply would not be visible, had they not been engaged, as in the case of previous administrations - ummmmm!

We've all been given NEW assignments or opportunities - every sensible person heeds advice or tutoring to perform at a reasonable level,  At the same token, most people despise being micro-managed or criticized at every turn - they fume under their breath "just let me do it, I will get it right."

50 days is not 4 years, but for me I am more encouraged that our foundation is being rehabilitated by the leadership of President Obama's tenure to date, and our country will reclaim the prosperity we deserve, but the facts are like any environment that has gone awry, recovery takes time and some decisions will be on the money and others deserve questioning, but the key will be are we headed in the right direction?  For some it will be a resounding Yes, and for others it will be No - uhhhhh, I think they call that democracy!

50 Days! - What does it have to do with Real Estate?  17 campaign commitments have been accomplished - 2 have not BUT 2 critical pieces of legislation have been passed designed to help our country, and yes some components of the bills are ridiculous but that is why we have Congress/Senate as our proxies as well as the President, so if at the end of their term it is determined they simply have not performed - Vote them out.  As for me.....right now, I'm digging in and offering support because I believe nothing is impossible as long as we're engaged.

Here's to another 50 days and beyond!!!!!!

As usual we encourage your comments.

The Stock Market is broken - Fix It! No one is going there until regulations are put in place. Anyone ever hear of the GlassSteagall Act?  That's how we got in this mess. Republican and Democrats signed it's repeal in 1999 which became the beginning of the end. Republicans out to see Obama fail are obstructionist that will slow down the recovery.

We too aren't too happy with his cabinet picks, of which i believe 5 now have been found not to pay their taxes yet. What's worse however are these 2 points.

  1. he said he would stop earmarking.
  2. he said he would not appoint lobbyists.

Untill he starts keeping up with his campaign promises, or stops making those promises then he's not delivering change and is just part of the poiltics as usual routine everyone is used to.

The verdict is still out I learned from Bill Clinton to ask one question when dealing with elections. ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE FOUR YEARS AGO, HOW ABOUT 50 DAYS AGO. The resounding answer is not NO but H....NO. My challenge is with Congress, the Persident is no more than a talking head and Obama is the best but congress is the one that suppose to get things done and where is their approval rating lately.

It's been a very productive fifty days , even with all the obstructionists still in office. I wish he did his vetting a little better also but he is head and shoulders above the previous administration.
