SignI have just joined Facebook and have been busy navigating the web site. I'm looking for tips and advice.

facebook

I see the benefit of getting in touch with old friends and staying in touch with current friends.

Is there is a way to get business from it?

Am I right to be careful about what pictures I post? I know it's a social site, but I've seen some crazy stuff already on other people's pages.

LinkedinI'm interested in connecting and getting to know my Realtor friends better, but I think Active Rain is doing that for me already. Is there a way to link my Active Rain blog to Facebook like LinkedIn?

twitter

Twitter is still an enigma to me, but maybe I'll take on that challenge next.

I enjoy social networking sites because I'm naturally social and enjoy getting to know people better, but I must admit that I am getting a little too busy at work to keep up with it all. After all, the real life home buyers and prospects in front of you should come first!

Lara - yes you can!  If you go to your blog and click on the RSS 2.0 button at the bottom of the page it will give you your RSS url, which should be the same as your blog address with "/rss" at the end of it.  Then on facebook you can search applications for blogging apps.  There are several to use.  You just have to provide your RSS url to the facebook application and it copies your blog there.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Hi Lara, I just joined Twitter today...."Temecula_homes", is my URL....I am really excited I think I will like it.  You're right social networking/marketing is really gaining momentum.  I was hesitant at first but am seeing the advantages more and more!!!

I don't currently do Facebook, but where I believe that it helps to develop profiles on these formats so that you can get the word out that you are in Real Estate.  Also, Facebook has a "Real Estate Group".  I will probably do that one next, after I get twitter down.

BTW - Twitter has professional profiles also.  Media profiles as well, it is not purely social.

Jane, thanks for the helpful insight. There just seems to be so much to learn. Although I admit that I love a good challenge.

Lynn, I like Linkin for it's professional contacts, but it's not much fun. I love AR and have not decided  yet if I have time for Twitter.
