This has actually happened to me a few times while sitting in traffic. Like most home inspectors, I drive a truck. I can haul everything I need and then some. I had it done by a graphics company last year. They put a nice sticker in the back window that I can see right through, it doesn't block my vision at all. It's called a perf. I also had my two side windows in the rear done as well.

Anyway, I was sitting at a green light and my cell phone started buzzing. I turned down the radio and answered it(I know already). The guy on the other end wanted a price on home inspections and what services I offered. We had some discussion and I booked an inspection for early next week. I asked him how he found my company, and he said, "You're right in front of me."

He then passed by me waved and said see ya Tuesday. This just reinforces the idea that we have to be in front of people to let them know who we are and what we do. Get your name out there any way you can, and good things will happen for you. good luck guys.

Very cool....looks like that vehicle wrap or ad really pays off!

Very clever! I once needed a locksmith and found a number on a truck at a red light. Great advertising!

Ian, it's like they say, "Paint your wagon."  The two most important things on your van are your name and your number.  Have a great day.

Thanks for the post.. The only issue I find is that I have to drive with the greatest of courtesy... which I should anyway... but, when your name is all over your truck, it is a must... I happen to live on a busy street in our town... It is my 'traveling billboard'.  People do recognize it.

Good job Ian! Now you really can say that the money you spent on your "window" ads paid off!

Pat-It really does, great investment.

Fred-That is kinda funny.

Linda-All about timing.

Kevin_They really are and they have to be highly visible as well.

Good job Ian.  I really need to take my magnetic signs and move them to the rear.

Darren-Yeah, you have to drive like a true gentleman if you are putting your name onit.

Samantha-You gotta love window ads

Ron-I used to use those, but they scratched my truck all up, window perf is much nicer, check into them.

Congrats!  I am looking into some type of wrap for the back of my convertible window....not sure if it will work because it is plastic and not glass, but, we are going to give it a try....I hope so.  I would love for someone to call for a listing appointment while sitting behind me at a traffic light.

Debra-A good friend of mine told me, "If you aren't marketing, you ain' workin."

Rich-this type of marketing will work for almost anything, how many vehicles do see in a day?

Tina-A fold up billboard so to speak, I like that.

Ian I have put off getting my truck done for a while now, because I wanted a different truck.  Think I'm going to take a look at working on my Dodge and then getting it done. I might even then procrastinate and wait 6 more months.  Post a picture of your truck.

Got a dozen calls off my van signage.  It has more than paid for itself.

Sure makes you pay attention to your driving, manners, and appearance.

Great story.  I'd comment more but I've got to go order my sign!

My truck is lettered on all sides. Not too much, just enough to make it legible. I love the perf's. I think they are much sharper. I make my wife where a Roofing Company T-shirt to the grocery store some times. She hates it but I know it will pay off.

Very cool story.  My husband and I have called numbers from vehicles sitting in front of us before too.  Great way to get your name out there.

Jack-I will get some up next week somewhere, here, there, or everywhere.

Linda-You are walking proof that it works.

Irene-What are you waiting for?

David-I might start having my wife wear one too.

Brenda-You never know where you will find something you need.

Thanks for the post Ian. I've seen these things before but I have never invested in them myself. I think I'll bring it up at our next marketing meeting!

It's true. You never know. I got one at a gas station. The folks filling up on the other side of the gas pump from me were from Arizona and had just put a purchase offer in on a home over the weekend. I did the home inspection the following weekend.

Of course, the other side of the coin is that I had an employee who took one of the company cars one time. He was running late, and he ran a stop sign in a residential neighborhood near a school as school was letting out. I haven't received that many phone calls in one hour in my life! Graphics on the car, especially with a phone number and everyone having cell phones, some that even take pictures, really do cause one to slow down, leave earlier, pay attention to traffic laws, etc.
