Small House Living

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Pro Albuquerque

I am often asked why I focus my efforts on older, smaller homes and often in neighborhoods that are not "the best". I believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live. Not everyone can afford the ritzy neighborhood and some who can still choose not to live there. I try to mkake sure my clients find a home that fits their needs and their budget. AIf they must struggle to make the mortgage every month, they will not be happy in the home...they probably won't be there as much because they are working extra to make ends meet.

I focus on theses homes because I believe that part of mu duty as a citizrn of planet is to help balance the catastrophic changes we humans are causing. Recycling existing homes is one way of doing it. I also hope that by encouraging people to buy homes they can afford as they are or afford to improve, they are contributing to keeping the neighborhood vital. Gentrification is generally not good for the people who live in a neighborhood because they can't afford to live elsewhere....they are slowly priced out of the area by rising taxes and increased retail prices as the income of the neighbors rises and theirs doesn't.

Small houses generally cost less to buy, less to maintain and less to upgrade with energy efficient appliances and systems. They offer myriad opportunities for creative use of space. I encourage people to reduce their mortgage by reusing an existing  home aqnd to rethink their beliefs about how much space they really need.  Small houses tend to encourage people to get rid of all the "stuff" that owns them and keep only what is really important to them. As a Real Estate professional, my goal is to provide people with prosessional assistance in buying and selling their property. As an entrepreneur, I can choose what clientele I want to attract. As an EcoBrokertm, I can make sure that everyone recieves information that teaches them about sustainable housing principles so that they are more likely to become that clientele.
