Are homes being Staged in your neighborhood??

Whether you're a buyer, a seller or someone who just likes looking at homes for sale, do you see value in Staging homes prior to putting them on the market?

I think that if Staging did not make such a HUGE difference in how fast and for how much homes sell, we would not have the MODEL HOME concept, right? Or Staged to Sell, or Get it Sold, or The UNsellables, you get my point, right?

REOs are perfect for Staging because you don't have an owner whose feelings will get hurt when I take down the dream catcher collection they bought in 1979!  We all have a "collection" of our own in our homes, don't we?  When the home is vacant, I can go in any time, work my magic, post the awesomeness online the next day and let my client see the value of my services for their investments.

Let me ask you this....if a certain agent was Staging all of his/her listings, would you see value added to his/her listings over other those that are not Staged?

Those of you who are Staging, or love Staged Homes, or know of sellers who would be interested, please comment. I'd love to know how everyone is doing, or how much interest is out there.

I offer Staging FREE to my clients, if property conditions allow it, of course.  On vacant homes I decide how much or how little to Stage depending on the property. If the home is occupied that also determines how it is Staged.

All comments would be appreciated, but especially those who are either Staging, or Asset Managers who use agents who Stage your REOs, please contribute! :)

Well, I would be very curious to see photos of those "free" stagings to see how they compare to those done by a full time professional stager. The quality of the staging and the results it provides are what make it valuable to clients.

I'm not sure if you're an ASP or not, but if you are, you know that ASP Realtors, which I am, don't charge additional for staging. We get certified to add value to our listings, which would otherwise not be stated at all. And to educate our clients as to the value of full time stagers like yourself. It is my goal to always stage my listings. When I get to the point where I can't do it anymore or a client just needs more than what I offer, I would enlist the help a local ASP.  Anyway, I still don't know what's being done in your local market, so do share. And thanks for your comment.

Addie, here in GA the market is very slow so I have added my "natural talent" and previous staging experience as a service to my listings to basically stand out from the rest.  Many people are trying to just get enough from the sale to get back what they owe to the bank.  I am in a small suburb of Atlanta so things may be different in the city.  But that's what's happeneing here.  Even so, I am the first one to push staging to my clients!  We know it makes a world of difference!!

Hi Carol!  Thanks for the feedback! Things are tough in my market for sellers as well. The current market in being driven by REOs and short sales. Lenders sellers trully would benefit from listing with agents who either stage or believe in staging and partner with stagers.  I think Staging is a win win for everyone, from the seller to the agent, Asset Managers (reducing days on maket, less status reports to look at!) and our local economy, as more homes sell faster (if not for more), buyers will be even happier they got the home, we'll spend money to buy Staging essentials.  The list goes on!

Let's keep on Staging the world!!
