Dinah, it reminds me a lot of Lake placid.. Most people think of Mirror lake when the think of Lake placid... that is the lake in town.. .but the real Lake Placid is just outside of town and more than 3/4 of the lake is reachable only by boat.  Not sure if a plane has landed there... but it is a peaceful spot!  Around by me... the water is not as peaceful... it gets busy on the weekends in the summer!
