A Real Estate Agent has been Shot in Rockhill, South Carolina. Leave prayers for his family.

Breaking news: A Real Estate Agent working for Coldwell Banker has just been shot in his office working a deal in Rockhill, South Caroilna. He is currently on his way to a medical center. The suspect is now in custody.

This isn't the first time a realtor has been shot:

Febuary 1st, 2007 James Magot a realtor from San Diego was shot twice in the head during negotations of a condominium deal.

July1st, 2008 Troy Vanderselt from Nexes Realty was shot dead by his client in a similar situation in Muskegon, Michigan. The Story on Active Rain

November 10th, 2008 Susan Ryan a Realtor from Missasauga British Columbia was shot to death in her home.

People forget the dangers we go through every day: meeting strangers at vacant houses, manning an open house... we must be careful.

Oh my I read the story you linked to, he was in the office. How could you prepare for this?

Shocking. I wish his family will get over this. Hope this would be an isolated event.

According to the news story, the person who shot him was angry over "earnest money". Some new details should be coming soon.

Times are tight and things are really stressing people out. In our office we've noticed a NASTY trend this week. We're calling other offices, atty's etc... and the people answering the phone just aren't NICE this week. I ordered a deed from one office and the secretary reamed me out over a minor question. Geez.

I too will say a prayer for him as well as his family. Please keep us updated. This is just plain sad!!

UPDATE: The shooter was Richard Belk, an 88 year old man who wanted his down payment back. After an argument he shot 68 year old broker Jerry O'Neill in the abdomen. More

Still no word on his condition.

UPDATE 3-19-8: here's the latest.

Richard Blow, the 88 year old man suspected of shooting Jerry O'Neill, was denied bond in a March 11th hearing.
Richard had just found out about his daughter's death prior to going to the office of O'neill
O'Neill remains in the hospital in stable condition as of 3/12/09
