Tulum Mexico,
This is a beautiful little town south of Cancun about 80 miles and south of Playa del Carmen 35 miles. We have written several short posts about Tulum on our Mexico real estate blog. Most people recognize the name of Tulum from the famous ruins. The ruins are from the Mayan civilization and the unique aspect of this magnificent site, is that these are the only known ruins to be located along the Caribbean Ocean (I have not been able to verify this but will keep my eyes open for more information on this fact). Sitting atop the beach cliffs, looking to the east and onto the Caribbean ocean, this ancient extraordinarily and protected city gained its Mayan name as ZAMA. Zama means, the city of dawn. This makes sense given that this city and ruins sit on the east side and are the first to see the sun rise out of the ocean.
Today, the population is only about 15,000 people. Population in Playa del Carmen is nearing 200,000 while the Cancun area has rough figures of one million. In the next several weeks I am going to be gathering some information and data on this particular region. These are interesting times throughout many real estate markets in the world, and for our Mexico real estate market, this entire coast line of the Mexican Caribbean has had the attention of many international buyers over the past decade given the extraordinary appreciation results. There are many very, very succesful Mexican real estate owners here, and some quite succesful foreigners who entered and flipped in good timing. Some believe that the Cancun Real Estate market has matured, some feel that Playa del Carmen has reached its highest appreciation levels. What about the Tulum properties?
