20 Comments on HELP – I AM DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED – PART 2
Joan, I can so identify with your need for a GPS! When I first moved to NC I had not idea which was was North let alone where I was going. I think it is great that Garmin has a new Eco version. I now drive a car with a built-in GPS so I can't upgrade...but, it's a Prius so I already get 50 mpg! Let us know how you like the new program!
Okay - I am directionally challenged - but only in a single building. Everytime I exit a unit in this building I turn the wrong direction and start towards the back stairs (instead of the elevator). I have done it a hundred times. I can't get my bearings in this building. Oddly, it only happens in the same building - over and over. Now, I either need a compass, building map or Garmin...
Diane ~ I hear nothing but rave review for the Prius! It seems to be a great car -- you can't beat 50mpg. I'll let you know know it goes with the new program.
Joan, I have a Tomtom, but I don't know if it has that feature or not, I will have to check it out.
Ryan ~ You had me laughing so hard -- and I needed that! I have the same thing happen to me at the Macy's Department store in Nashua -- I don't know what it is about that store! Anyway, my lack of direction doesn't seem to have boundaries (lol)! It makes for some pretty exciting, unplanned adventures. Good thing I have a cell phone in case Greenie can't lead the way!
George ~ I hear the Tomtoms are great! Let me know what you find out. I know you are a man with a good sense of direction from reading your wonderful posts.
Joan, I am always and forever getting lost. I want to update my GPS but there are many places here where we don't get a signal. One thing about Long Island is that if I go too far, eventually I'll hit water :)
Hi Carole: No problem -- Garmin even has a GPS you can use on the water! (lol) You are all set!
Joan - I love my Garmin too. I had not heard about the ecoroute. I will have to check it out. Unfortunately showing country property I go a lot of places that Garmin does not seem to have in its mapping system.
Pam Perhaps you are going to have to rely on your lovely dog! I bet the dog has a good nose out in the country -- maybe your loyal companion can get a job with Garmin (lol)!
I got to tell you the GPS that is built in to my car is a life saver. It has not failed me yet. One of the best invention ever!
Bill - you can't leave home without it! I don't know what real estate agents did before the GPS! It takes so long to map everything -- and then if something gets cancelled -- good luck getting to the next showing (lol)! At least I know what direction I am going in now!
Joan, My son gave me GPS for Christmas and I love it. I still carry a map for back up.
Gita ~ I'm with you on carrying a map for backup. Sometimes, the GPS just can't find the next location! It is a great tool, but a back up i a good idea too!
Joan,
I have the same problem - directionally challeneged. My GPS has been a great time, & gas saver.
Cynthia The planet is far better off since I got my GPS. I still get lost once and awhile, but even when I do, the GPS just say "REDIRECTING" (LOL)! I love it!
I'm leaving this comment for now and it has been reported to the AR gods... they will not be smiling kindly upon the last commenter.
Hey, Joan — I left a surprise for you in my post this morning. Let me know when you find it…. What? You thought I was going to tell you where? Ha! This comment is a clue, though.
Hi Russel - This is a Surprise... I hardly remembered this post! :) You are one of the Special folks that make Active Rain a very speciall community. Hope you are doing well.
I came by way of Russel's introduction. Love my Garmin, although in Michigan's Upper Penisula this summer, it wasn't showing the tiny back roads. It did represent how far we were from the lake, so we never really got "lost".
I depend on my GPS. If I am in the car without it I rely on my phones GPS. As a man it is a given I will never stop and ask for directions!
