Did you know blogging is going to make you money?

If you put your time into blogging, and actually try to connect with your readers, you are going to make money. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but it will be someday. The secret to blogging is, TIME and EFFORT. That's it. You don't have to be a professional writer, you don't have to be a marketing genius, you have to do one thing to make money from your blog. Sit down for 20 minutes and write what you know, who you are, or where you're going.

Did you know blogging can drive traffic to your webisite?

So you decided to blog, why? Most of us want to make money. (We've covered that.)

Now what?

We need to get people to our website? Right! Drive traffic to your website through your blog. Write about your website, write about your niche, write about your real estate experience. Write about who you are, and make it exciting. In your blog link to your website whenever it makes sense, or whenever you're writing about something you have on your website. You have a beautiful website, so what? If you had a beautiful town with no roads to your town, how would people find you? Blogging builds roads to your website, the more roads, the more traffic.

Did you know blogging can connect your customers to you on a personal level?

If you think of your local community you have a status. People know who you are, people already refer you business because you have lived there your whole life. People know you, people know your family, people know your ethics, right?

Now if you think of your "internet community," what is your status? Do you even have a status? Do people, who are on the internet in Timbuktu, know your personality? Do they know your work history? Do they know who you are? NO! Unless you tell them, unless you connect with them, unless you BLOG YOUR LIFE, they have no idea who you are.

Did you know people all over the world  are reading your blog?

Now that we are blogging who we are, what we do, where we are, and where we're going. Blog to the world. Blog for the community abroad. Become an ambassador for your community. Become someone to the people reading your blog around the world. When they come to your community they will already know you.

Did you know a catchy headline can be the difference between read or not read?

Would you read this: I went to a listing today, and then we went to another one, and then I wrote an offer and blah blah blah, me me me. Puke! When someone looks at a headline they want something for them, they want information to help their needs, not yours. Write headlines for your readers not for you.

Did you know people search the internet for two reasons?

Write your articles as if you were the person looking for it. People search the internet for two reasons. They want something or need some information. Are you the one who is going to provide what they want? Are you the person with the right information? If you write your blogs with this in mind, you will have great success.

Did you know blogging is killing newspapers?

Newspapers are being pushed out of the news. People are looking on-line more and more for their news. When someone is looking for news on the internet, this is when your blog can be their shining light. Who wants to go to the the local mart and pay $.50 for news they can get instantly on-line, in their pajamas, while drinking a cup of joe, in their living room? Not me, and more and more people are realizing this everyday. Be the news, blog your expertise, and reap the rewards.

Did you know blogging is a sure fire way to gain Search Engine Results success?

Search engines are here to stay. The internet is HUGE. If you lived in small town USA, and went to New York City for the first time, were dropped off on a corner from a helicopter, blindfolded, have no idea where you were, and had to find your way around, what would your first instinct be? Ask for directions or find a map right?

Search engines are maps of the internet, you ask a question, they give an answer. With the internet growing exponentially you need to be in the search engines to turn your website "roads" into "freeways".

Did you know if you're not blogging, you're not communicating in the information age?

We are in the information age, people want information, people need information, and people are finding more information then ever before. Did You Know? (Watch this video it tells you where the internet has been, is now, and where it's going. It will blow your mind.)

Did you know blogging gives you a voice in the largest economy in the world?

Who are you? What do you have to say? Who wants to listen? Who cares?

You would be amazed. I have been blogging for about a month and a half now. I had no idea how many people wanted to hear what I had to say. They didn't know they wanted to hear my voice, but when I decided to talk, they listened. It's a phenomenon called web 2.0, the internet is becoming more and more a bi-product of socially user generated content. It's your turn. Make your voice heard, people will listen.

Did you know blogging doesn't take up your whole day?

It took me about 45 minutes to write this blog. It takes about 1-2 hours a day to maintain my ever growing presence. Yeah, when I first started it seemed to take a lot longer then it does today. I have noticed it takes me less and less time for each blog I write. Would you put 10-15 hours a week into prospecting for new business? I know I would. You put that time into blogging, and the effects will last forever. If you put an hour into writing a newspaper ad, it will last for one day. Blogs don't disappear or get thrown away like a newspaper, or an ad, they will last forever.

We have been actively blogging for a couple of years.  Our blog is tied into the same URL as our web site so that when we activate a post, it's only a matter of a few hours before google has it indexed.  In a google keyword search of terms used in the blog,l the post will show up one the 1st page of goole many times ranking 1st.  This is a huge tool that if people are not using, they are making a mistake.

I like when you say a catchy headline is the difference between a reader or not having a reader. It is so important to make sure you come up with a creative title to urge people to check out your article.

Hi Lisa...You are so right on every point.  The catchy title is truly important and I'm not always on top of that one.  Sometimes I think of a good one long after the post is up and running.

By the way, when I clicked on your Web site, on your profile page, I was not able to get there.  You need to add http:// and then you'll be in business.

I've seen the results of my blogging efforts.  This week I've had three appointments with prospective clients who found me via my blog.  Tomorrow I have someone flying in from GA and next week someone from FL.  My appointment yesterday made me chuckle when she said I've been staring at your picture on the internet so long that I feel as if I already know you :-)

It takes me alot longer than 45 minutes to write a blog, and longer than that still to come up with a topic for content.  It's encouraging to know that it does get easier and I can't believe you're only doing this for a month and a half.  Great job.

Hi Lisa;

Great information.  My problem is, I have no clue how to do the blogging. At one point, I hired a company to do it for me but that got to be a bit pricey.  I would love to learn but I need to begin at point A and end at point Z.

As an example; I received an email from Active rain which displayed a number of blogs. Yours caught my eye because I understand blogging is the thing to do. Thus, I clicked and read your material. Then, I searched for a way to email you. Found a place where I could email you directly or at the bottom of the page where it said "comments", I saw other responses to you and a place where I too could add my blog.  That upon sums up my tiny bit of knowledge.

I have a few blog sites. What do I do with them?  Do I email them to my clients and friends? I am sincerely lost with all this. I would actually pay someone to sit down and train me. I can write the articles or information, the mystery remains, what to do with it and how to get in into the blogs?

Anyway, if anyone knows of any excellent classes which actually teach from A-Z, I would love to learn. I spent about $600.00 traveling to Monterey and a CRS blogging class. Returned home with no more knowledge than I went with.  I don't think it is safe for anyone to assume that everyone knows how to do this. My time is so limited. If it takes longer than 5 minutes to figure anything out, I give up figuring it shouldn't be all that complicated.

Any ideas, help, suggestions you may have would be appreciated.  And Bravo to all of you who did figure it out.   Carole

Thanks, Lisa. Your description of the road map gave clarity and purpose to this whole exercise.

It's hard to get started on a post or to figure out what to write about. Your post made the process seem more low key and relaxed. It's impressive that you wrote this fantastic post in only 45 minutes after blogging for only a month and a half. That's a quick learning curve! You've inspired me!

I am amazed at some of the interest I've had in my work from people finding me by my blogging. Only been at it since January, and have been a little bit off & on. Sometimes it feels as if I'm not working when I blog ... wasting my time. But some trusted colleagues of mine have been kind enough to share with me some additional strategies, and that it has been working for them and brought new business. So, I am convinced to make it a regular part of every day.

My comment seems repetitive, but you still need to be credited for writing a great post on blogging and connecting with people through this powerful tool.

We all need to remain fearless (or at least unafraid) in learning and using new technologies to our advantage.  We are in time in history where so much has happened, has been created, been developed.  Look at the genius and power and growth of Google.

Thank you again for your post!

Lisa... Great points and very well put.  Wish I had figured out how to write them as quickly as you, though.  Hopefully, the more I do, the easier they'll come.  Enjoyed your post, as always.

Hi Lisa,

Your post couldn't come at a better time! I just started a blog and wondered if anyone was reading it, but her, I just started it, so how can anyone even KNOW to read it?!

I'll take your sage advice and keep typing away. I have plenty to say and I'm a writer, so it shouldn't be too hard. My challange is balance....knowing when to pick up the phone and "get out there" rather than just stay in  my office and type and tweet and chat!

Thanks for a such a great post :-)

Great post, I'm trying to come up with some ideas to write about in my area.  Beginner Blogger here.  I need some ideas, any suggestions?  It seem like it will take me all day to write something.  Please email if you can.

Hi Lisa, you made some excellent points in your post.  I am also new at blogging and am enjoying it more than I thought.  :-O

I've always had issues with my writing skills, so I find myself not publishing many of the posts I write.  They say practice makes perfect.  I'm just going for better.  :-)

Hey Lisa, Great job!  It's nice that you have whittled down your time. It still takes me waaaay too long to write a post. Practice makes perfect!

Sadly most agents don't know that.  The active bloggers merely Google their listings or communities and they see the power of AR and blogging.....

Lisa,

Very good!  I have to get back on the blogging wagon!  I just don't feel very creative!  I go to write a blog and I get tired!  Everything you address in the article is correct...I just don't want to come out of denial about blogging!

Lisa,

This is my first response. Thank you for the video and the other information about blogging. I can't seem to get started, but your blog has encouraged me to going.

Thanks again,
