ActiveRain ReBlog Gets A FaceLift - Time To Incorporate It

By
Education & Training with Retired Executive Director of Education at eXp Non-Licensed

I'll be the first to admit, I didn't really like the previous ReBlog graphic/icon as I felt it was too big.  It moved my text around making my posts look funny, and it was completely useless for me as the author of my Blog.  The value seemed to only be for the ReBlogger.  I know there are still mixed opinions about "ReBlogging" and the value of it, so like "open houses" I'll let that controversy continue onward and upward, but not here.

You'll notice this morning that the ReBlog icon has in fact changed, and in my opinion, for the better.  I can finally see who has been ReBlogging my posts.  The best part is that now you can also Link to the ReBloggers post to see what they might have said about it, or others that may have commented.  Think of all the comments you've been missing about your post that was ReBlogged! :-O

This is a great new feature and I really like the look of the "NEW" and "Improved" graphic.
(The AR Tech Team redeems themselves)

You can also ReBlog members posts to appear on your Outside ActiveBlogs.  No other Network offers a tool like this, ActiveRain continues to be on the cutting edge of social networking and technology.

HOW TO USE THE REBLOG OPTION:

If it's green it's clean, but if it's Grey with green dots then you've been REBLOGGED!!  To ReBlog another members post, just click on the ReBlog button.  To view a ReBlogged post and the ReBloggers comments or additions, just click on the green dots below the button.  (Just fyi...You cannot ReBlog your own posts)  To add the ReBlog option to your Blog posts, when creating the post, just put a check mark in the box that says:    then submit post.

HERE'S THE NEW REPORT YOU GET FROM YOUR REBLOGGED POSTS:

IMO - A ReBlogged Post is one of the finest compliments you can give another ActiveRain Member!

I never thought I'd say this, but now I don't mind going back to all my posts and adding the ReBlog option to every single one of them.  Especially now that I can see who has ReBlogged me, and what they had to say.  Now we can follow the chain and threads on our ReBlogged posts, and the new face-lifted graphic won't affect the layout or design of our posts.  I personally like the change and want to thank our guys for listening to the community and for making it happen.  Kudos Gents!!  :-)

If there were one single Blog post on AR that should be Reblogged by every member here, I'd say it's:

this one!

So I've searched and searched and I cannot locate the reblog button.  Do I need more points to see it?  I'm feeling left out!  :)

Or are you looking to Re-Blog content? That can be a good way to get started.

This user has not entered anything in their blog yet.

Hi Michelle - you also need to make sure you have the "Allow Reblogs" box checked on your "settings" link.  I'll go check it out real quick...

Michelle:  If you are not a Rainmaker, you do not have the option to Re-blog--members only posts are not eligible for re-blogging and I believe that could be the reason you don't see the button.

When you become a Rainmaker, here's what you'll see:

As you can see, it's located just beside the post title.

Also, from a Rainmaker account, you will see this when it's a members only post--notice that there is no option to Re-Blog Members Only posts:

Hope this helps!  If you need assistance becoming a Rainmaker, Brad or I or any other AR Ambassador would be happy to help get you signed up!

Last night I was thinking it was the non Rainmaker thing but non RainMakers can Re-Blog.. a public post can't they?  Their content  is  Members Only.

Confused now.  I was wondering if it is a browser issue.

Hi Michelle!  Believe me when I say, you WON'T be disappointed!  When you join, you can participate in the 'ActiveRain University' classes that will help you soar to the top in your area.  I receive calls from folks who find me on AR all of the time--if they haven't found me on ActiveRain, they've gotten here by way of a link on another one of my sites and some have read for several months.  It's the best $$ I ever spent in marketing PLUS, it's a great place to meet others and have a great time!

Try it, you'll like it!  :-)

Questions about Re-Blog:

Kerrie said we should check this is not my content but I have permission to use it when Re-Blogging.  Really?  Take the Kersplat on all Re-Blogs?  I thought the Re-Blog mechanism already took care of saying, this is not my content, this is who wrote it, here's a link to the original.  Re-Blogger in most cases also writing a little blurb about who wrote it, that it is NOT original.

In Bob Willis's featured post about Localism... a question came up.  Can Re-Blogged content be posted to Localism?

If Member A writes a post, posts it to Localism, Member B ( in the same market and is lets say a real estate agent, and member A was a home stager...) and Re-Blogs it, goes in and Checks Localism.  Is it going to show up on Localism?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Maureen - great question, I had to go test it to find out.

It's not necessary to check the box "this is not my content...." when reblogging another members post.  You are correct, that is all covered by the authoring member allowing their posts to be reblogged.  A reblogged post can be added to your outside Blog, but after trying to add a reblogged post just now to my Localism, it did not show up on my Localism profile.  So the answer would be no, reblogs to the best of my knowledge and experience can not be posted to Localism.  I hope that helps answer your question.

If it does end up showing on my Localism from a delay in the auto-population process, I'll be sure to come back and let you know.  Thanks. :-))

Hey guys!  I must say Brad is correct when he told me I'd learn something new everyday!  It is not necessary to check the "this is not my content..." when reblogging. I apologize for the misinformation and I promise to never forget this one! :)

I really like it.  Thank you for the tutorial.  It's a step up from just making a comment to re-blogging.  Again Activerain is on the cutting edge.
