Making my websites valuable to readers

Sunrise in Roanoke Valley Getting the attention of readers is one thing that all online writers face.  Keeping readers engaged is an even bigger challenge.

I have been writing online since the fall of 2004.  I have a number of blogs which have between 1,500 and 2,000 subscribers. Most of by subscribers are not in the market for real estate or at least so far I haven't heard from them.

Since the fall of 2006 when I finished my real estate classes and passed my NC state exam, I have been developing some new sites with information that I hope is useful to people who might want to move into our area.

The hope being that by reading the information that I provide, they might feel like it is less of a gamble to use me as a Realtor®.  I know that I am a reliable, hard working person, but how do I get that across to potential clients?

I have chosen the web, and I am working hard to make sure that my online presence reflects the same quality that I would deliver when I am acting in someone's behalf.

Last night I sent my first email announcing that I am in real estate to seventy people who were previous business acquaintances.  I am proud to report that I got my first subscription request back before eight am this morning.

My completely revamped CoastalNC.org site and my Coastal Real Estate site are now live.

I hope that I have created a better user experience and made the information easier to find.  I am counting on the new sites to continue the success that I have seen on my sites recently.

I would love to hear any feedback. You can click here to email comments to me.

I have also started a real estate newsletter about coastal property which I will t try to do once a quarter,  The first one is available for viewing and  if you would like to subscribe,  this link will get you to the form.

I have also chosen the Reston Backfence Online community for my first online ad.  I will be interested to see what the response is.

Today's picture is the May 14, 2007 sunrise over the Roanoke Valley from our deck.  I do photography also and have a site with lots of Roanoke sunrise photos.  The information about the prints is at my home website and the photos are at this site.

David, if this is your method, then go for it.  Nothing succeeds like success - so your success will be measured by how many of your subscribers turn into actual transactions.

Jon: you're right...we're always tweaking things.

David: best of luck with the website! I just launched my own: www.RicardoBueno.com Though I deal mostly in the financing end of the industry. I still have work to do on my own site as I'm looking to change some of the "Welcome" and "About" content.

I've received two calls from people directed to my site since I launched it...and like Brian said, the goal now is to see how many subscribers and visitors to my site I can turn into actual transactions.
