Yep! That's correct - bear with it a few minutes... in short, he's demo'ing a Linux MCE (Media Center Edition) setup from absolute scratch...it gets more interesting after a few minutes when you see what it can do.

Linux MCE is free, and can

work like a Tivo
Control your HVAC
control all your AV equipment, stereo, tv, etc.
control sprinklers, lawn equipment
control security including even show you video of your house to your phone
use your phone to control your entire house
put multiple things together i.e. "lockdown mode" will lock doors, close blinds, shut off TV's, etc., put HVAC into "not home save money" mode, close the garage door, set phone to voicemail only, arm the security - all with 1 button.

i'm a geek, so of course i love it ;-)
