Inquiring minds are coming on the internet in increasing numbers to ask questions and get answers. Here are some staggering statistics from Hitwise's March 2008 Report, U.S. Visits to Question and Answer Websites Increased 118 Percent Year-over-Year Yahoo! Answers receives 74 percent of all U.S. visits,

U.S. Visits to a Question and Answer site increased 118% from March 2007 to March 2008.
U.S. Visits to a Question and Answer site increased 889% comparing February 2006 to February 2008.
Females accounted for 52 percent of all the U.S. visits to the top five Question and Answer websites for the week ending Mar. 15, 2008.
The majority of these visits came from users between the ages of 35-44 at 24 percent.

Great list - I have read some of the answers on some sites. It is amazing the amount of bad or at least unknowledgeable advice that I sometimes see.

Hi Rebecca - very interesting. I've heard that a lot of people search by asking a question in Google so it makes sense that these sites would be popular.

Rebecca are they no follow on these sites?

Ryan and Justin- This list was actually fun to make regardless of the time involved. Ryan, yes some of the information is not as good as others that why it's important to give good answers with information that you feel confident about giving. It's like so many things, the end recipient needs to do their own research and verification.

Kevin and Monica- I type questions into Google.:-)

Missy- Certainly you have a good question. I didn't check all these sites for no follow. Some are definitely no follow as they are closed networks, however, the closed networks I have answered questions on have increased my network so while I did add the Google Page Rank for each one (because regardless of closed or not, I still think it's an important factor in determining some of the worth of a site) if I am able to increase the amount of good and valid connections I have, the more opportunity I have. On Linked In I added 6 new connections in one day that I had networked with on questions, not as an add because someone else was connected to them. I'll take those additions to my networks anyday:-)

I will update this post, though, as I go through and answer questions on this site and I thank you for the question:-)

Great List, Rebecca .... I had not heard of these sites, either, but have been told to answer questions on Zillow and Trulia ............ I'm going to go look.
