8 Comments on Sowell's Home Supply. Now Sowell's Furniture. Wonderful picture of old Searcy.
LOVE the picture, too. Wonder what kind of truck it is? Maybe International Harvester - my Dad bought those for his Esso delivery business. They were sold by Cal Acklin, on Race St. Betty Lynn and family lived just a block east of me, I lived at 1008 W. Arch so the picture is in front of their rock house, still standing and in pretty good shape from the outside. John Sowell is a distant cousin, on my dad's side.

Anita, Nancy said the rock house showing is on the corner of Hickory and that they had a warehouse, I believe, on Arch where this truck is. It is a great picture, isn't it!
Hi Barbara: I didn't know phone numbers were ever three numbers. When I was growing up in Circle Pines, MN, I still remember my number: Sunset 4, 4484. But we never had 3 numbers. And this was a small village at the time.
Barbara, thank you so much for sharing our photo on your blog. We are having SO much fun with this photo. We lived in the rock house at 909 West Arch and our property went all the way through to Center Street. The delivery men would make trips to the warehouse several times a day and at the end of the day Daddy would park the truck in the backyard. The Center Street entrance is now replaced with houses but you can still see the warehouse which is behind the brown rock house on Arch. Our home number was 344.
We have some Sowell's history and photos on our website: www.sowellsfurniture.com Our Story
Thank you again for sharing our photo and extending an invitation to our Birthday Celebration Sale. I do wish Mother and Daddy were here to join us and to tell us about the purchase of that truck. I'm sure that was a great story that Daddy loved to tell.
See you this week.

Barbara that is just awesome advertising sending that out ...I hope they give you a great deal on the lazyboy....o and the truck is a 1951-1955 Chevy Coe from what I can tell ....peace zane
Elizabeth, perhaps numbers had to be different then too. Three numbers probably meant a very very small town. Wonder if the numbers started with 1 and went up according to subscribers.
Nancy, thanks for the comment. I do love the truck shot! Think of me for a Lazy-Boy.
Zane, you are are vehicle authority! Chevy Coe. Do you think they made a lot of them. The paint job on the truck reminds me of the decorated vehicles today that are high advertising!
chevy coe I found this site it has some great photos of the trucks I'm not into the big trucks like this but it is old so I like it......
Zane, thanks for the truck help!!
