ActiveRain's Matt Heaton recently posted a great "heads-up" blog article, entitled, "
Trigger Leads - There Goes My Privacy, Yet Again".
It explains in some detail about when you make a loan application, and the lender pulls your credit history, it triggers notification to the major credit bureaus that you are shopping for a loan whereupon they package your contact information and sell to lenders as a source of active leads. At which point you may be inundated with loan sales calls.
A couple of links included in the article detailing the trigger leads process were:

You can stop this type of privacy invasion in it's tracks by making use of the online web service: OptOutPrescreen.com which allows you options to "Opt-In" or "Opt-Out" from receiving unsolicited offers from lenders.
You can register online to opt out for 5 years or obtain instructions for opting out permanently.

Don't forget that, in addition to registering to Opt Out, you can also sign up for the Do Not Call Registry at http://www.donotcall.gov/ or by phone: (888)382-1222. (By they way, it's not necessary for CELL phone numbers, despite the panic emails and blog notices appearing everywhere to the contrary.)
