Things are NOT always what they seem

Can you guess what this is?

And appearances CAN be deceptive!

?

?

Is it a landscaping tool?

A contemporary sculpture?

Lawn ornament?

Have you figured it out?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

?

It can change someone's life...dramatically.

Jeff:  I knew they were prosthetic legs.  I think one of the participants in the Beijing Olympics had those and wanted to participate in one of the running events, but was disqualified.  It turned out his prosthetic legs allowed him to run faster than the participants having their natural-born legs... the prosthetic legs had more "spring" in them.  Our scientists have done some incredible things with prosthetics.  Thanks for sharing.

Wow!  I also thought of a lawn sprinkler.  Kudos to the medical engineer who invented it.  What an accomplishment!

Hi Jeff - Interesting post.  I actually did figure it out.  I thought it looked like one of the prosthetics worn by our little Sarah from California.  I was fortunate to get to see her compete in the Ironman in Hawaii a couple years ago.  Sarah actually used one prosthetic for running and a different one for the bicycle part of the competion.

Thanks for the uplifting post!

Jeff,

Oh my gosh, I had no idea, what a great photo. Marlene (above) and I both saw Sara at that Ironman, she was amazing.

Also a few years before that Sara was running the L.A. Marathon and passed me around mile 23-24, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Jeff, I did know what they were and just wanted to see where you were going with it. Very nice post. Science and technology really have done wonders in the past few years. Certainly turns lemons into lemonade in this case. :) Happy Saturday.

I don't have to stop and think...This is a very real scenario for me.

Should my leg not make it through surgery...I'll come back and show you my new yard tool :)

Jeff, I have seen athletes who have lost their leg(s) use these in races.  It is amazing how fast they can run with them.

I am glad to see that TLW is not letting the latest curve-ball in her life keep her from being positive about her future.  I know that prayers will be answered and she will be back doing all the things she loves to do.

Jeff, amazing technology.

The balance part is what amazes me the most.

Visually, they shouldn't work that well.
