Pascack Valley Goes for Apples- The Times they are Changing!

According to the Pascack Valley Regional High School Board of Education, as reported by Community Life in the May 9 edition, the two high schools, Pascack Valley High School and Pascack Hills High School will be changing to Apple Computers as their choice for the Wireless Laptop Program.  For the past few years, the schools have been using Sony PCs.

I remember when, years ago in River Vale, when computers were initially entered into the elementary classroom, there was heated discussion as to whether to go with PCs or MACs.  MACs won, but was then replaced years later by PCs.  We have now come full circle.

The Apple computers which will be part of the lease-purchase program by the Pascack Valley Regional High School System will have the new intel chip which allows each computer to be able to run both the Mac and Windows programs.

According to Dr. Benedict Tantillo, Superintendent of the district, as quoted in Community Life, this school district is one of only four in the entire state of New Jersey where every student works from a laptop.
