I started a blog on Activerain back in Sept of 2006. Posted quite often about various topics in the Williamsburg and Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I ended up with 28,000 points, number 2 ranking in my geographic area.

What concerns me most is that everywhere I look are search homes for sale links that send prospects away to JustListed.com . Why is the content I wrote now being used to send leads to my competition / Why aren't more Activerain Bloggers concerned with this ?

You can read all of my latest post at my main blog here Mr Williamsburg Blog blogging about life and real estate in Williamsburg and Hampton Roads Virginia

I think if you set up the listing router option you wouldn't see that - you can set up all of your areas for free and then you can pay to have a listing router that is on other areas of the network for a small fee.  If you don't set up the router then of course those "clicks" are offered to others.

Well, I logged out and looked at your profile and the link to Justlisted or Homegain is above your profile. If you are logged in you don't see it. ALL CONSUMERS will not be logged in as a user, so they will definitely see it !

Randall,

When I searched Charleston SC it went to your site. When I searched James Island it took me to Reply.com

Here is the link where it sent me http://www.reply.com/portal/default.asp?ng=3&mn=reply_realestatelead_buyzip&adid=&userzip1=

Aren't you glad you are creating leads for your fellow agents ?

Or am I missing something here ?

Your right it does.  IF you don't set up your listing router.  I have not looked at my profile when I'm logged out.  I will do that now...

Mark,

When I searched Salt Lake and North Salt Lake it went to your site. When I searched South Salt Lake it went to Reply.com

These prompts come up when i typed in Salt Lake. I didn't even know there was a South Salt Lake..

All you have to do is set up Listing Router so that if someone types in a city or area that you want sent to YOU, it goes to you.  I checked out my own (logged out) and it works fine.

John~

Things have been changing very quickly and I completely understand your concerns. After all, Active Rain is a business- it can't operate "free of charge". As a REALTOR®, I often work for free- as many agents do. Life is change- and we need to adjust our sails in order to reach our destination.

Roger,

Do you sell in the Long View NC area ? When I search there is goes to Reply.com

In My area I work an area that encompasses many different regions so any home searches not in Williamsburg VA will go to lead generators..

Mott,

I understand about business models changing.  What's interesting is how few agents seem to know about this "feature" of Activerain.

I'm just sayin

Nope, I didn't include Long View in my areas I wanted sent to me.  ANY area that you want sent to you, you just put in listing router.  If a customer is on your blog and they type in any of those, then it goes to your website or IDX search (or for that matter any website you put in.  Use mine if you want ;)  )
