A Faithful Friend In Business Is Like Finding A Precious Gem

Boy and DogJust like what you may find in other areas of your life, as a customer or with your Associates,

A Faithful Friend In Business Is Like Finding A Precious Gem.

Mainly these are people who you can count on to do what they say. They return phone calls and emails, they pay attention to details, they represent that "trusted advisor" the business world so sorely lacks today. It is called professionalism.

Two instances as a Realtor came to mind for me recently. Checking that room sizes and house square footage were accurate. And also confiming the schools listed on the MLS sheet were indeed valid for the family with children moving into that neighborhood. Oftentimes the information in many areas is deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Your faithful friend business partner doesn't allow bombshells to appear in your life after you bought the home and move in.

Why? Not only are they working for you but they are your faithful friend. Bottom line: THEY CARE ABOUT YOU.

Seek "faithful friend" types in all your business dealings and at the end of the transaction they may actually lick you in the face, or at least reach out with a paw and say they are glad to have worked with you (ANYTIME!).

I sold a house to a young couple from New Jersey and they have become our very good friends.  They are such nice people.  It is great to find friends in our business!

I agree having people you can count on and trust are paramount to this business.  I have been lucky and found great relationships with a great handy man that returns calls and gets jobs done fast and reasonable.  Title and lenders  too that have been keys to success.

Gary - It is so true about having great people, who are friends within the business.  I continue to have relationships with agents that shared an ole Century 21 office with me, when I first got in the business.  That was over 27 years ago.  They are more like family, than friends!

Gary:  I hate it when the schools are not accurate.  And I carry a laser tape measure with me.  I round the room sizes down so as to not disappoint prospective buyers.  Rather them be pleasantly surprised.

This is a great reminder to BE the faithful friend to other Realtors as well as to your clients.  What a wonderful thing for people to think of about you.

Have a great weekend.

Gary, Faithful friends, the ones you can REALLY count on are priceless.  I think in any profession you see some people who don't know the meaning of loyalty, I just always hope it doesn't reflect poorly on the others who are trying so hard to be helpful--and faithful!

Good post. I have seen listings where the wrong school district is mentioned . Though the mls says subject to errors and omissions , the buyers may not be aware of school districts .

Hi Gary:

You are so right in your statement that this is what it "sorely lacking" in business today.

And all your hard work is worth it, when at the end you get that "thank you hug and kiss".

It is so important to give out right information on your listings.  Sadly, when I have a prospect setup on the Gateway, I often will warn that agents put the wrong schools so I will broaden my area some and tell them we need to verify this information - I call it Garbage in, garbage out (sounds like a good post!)  Great photo.

Gary,

MLS as a database "requires" accurate information, but it really relies on its users to be honest and dilligent. Quite frequesntly, however, the info is not exactly accurate.  When working with buyers, I always verify most important data just to protect my buyer's interest.

Gary,

Love the picture you chose.  It had me from the get go.  The dog is a sheltland sheepdog or sheltie for short.  I had a precious little one named Lady.  So your point of gems of those friends and business relationships that are reliable and faithful in what they do came across with double impact!  I think it is important that we remember to tell those "gems" how much we value them.  And by the way, you are such a gem...So Thank you...
