Several years ago I had the opportunity to attend the world championships of Drum Corps International (DCI). If, like me, you love music, and you love to see precision drill groups do their thing, go see a DCI competition. There might be a local competition in your neighborhood, especially if your city has a lot of high schools, colleges, and universities. There's a 2002 movie called "Drumline" that I watched the other night. Many of the performers in the movie were from DCI. It's a very feel-good movie with some underlying truths about truths, lies, and ethics. The basic premise is about a drummer, by far the best drummer, who not only taught himself to play, but he doesn't read music -- if I remember correctly, The Beatles didn't read music, either. The kid has such an ear for the drums that he can listen to something and play it exactly. Unfortunately, one of the requirements for being in the drum corps is that you have to read music. I leave it there and just tell you that if you need a good, exciting movie about truth, lies, and ethics, rent it and watch it with the family. ***** If you need help buying or selling a home anywhere in San Diego County, please contact me.
