Guestimating the Bottom of the Housing Market

Lot's of people want to know when the housing market will come back.

Today I read a blog by a venture capital guy who makes a lot of good comments from an investment perspective about the current housing market as a good place to invest if you want to own rentals and manage them for anywhere from a 10% to a 25% profit (way better than Wall Street now) --> see Fred's Wilson's 12/28/2008 blog entitled "when will housing bottom?" @ http://www.avc.com/a_vc/2008/12/when-will-housi.html?disqus_reply=7223765#comment-7223765

But what's good for investors may not be good for people who actually need a place to live. We've had a few clients who are having a hard times getting loans ... and who have had a really hard time qualifying for rentals too because their credit's bad.

I like the idea that the housing market might be coming back ... but it sounds like its coming back as an investment, not providing places for people to live. When you're dealing with clients who need a place to live, be it a purchase or a rental, it still seems like the housing market still has a long way to go before it makes a real comeback.

Still ... I hope the pundints are right and that this thing will start to come back around this year.
