Jobs? Yes...we need more jobs!

I read with great interest today about the federal funds that our County will be the receipient of as part of the country's economic stimulus package. The goal with these funds is to provide us with assistance in reducing wildfire danger, and if you live in the Northstate you know about the wildfires we've had in recent years!

The Shasta-Trinity National forest will be receiving $1 million for fuels reduction projects, as reported by the local newspaper (The Record Searchligh).  According to Sharon Heywood, Shasta-Trinity Forest Supervisor, she's happy with this decision and agrees that this money will provide jobs for the California Conservation Corps and area contractors.

The article indicated that this work is part of the first 10 percent of projects funded by $98 million for the Forest Service nationwide in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Across the country, the projects are expected to create 1,500 jobs. That's some progress if I may add.

This is a start however...Redding needs more jobs!
