This is very cool and it reminds me of

Andy Goldsworthy

who probably got his start stacking rocks this way. Check him out!

Hi Randy--Yes, I think Mr. Miyagi would be proud of the artist that created these!

Hi Tad--

Grew up in WI, spent a lot of time in MN and didn't see anything like it there either.  Here in CA, we see them all over the place.  I think their is an "above ground" society that runs around in the dark creating these!

Lynn--Isn't it amazing how many colors you can get out of virtually the same kind of rock???  You could spend a long meditation there studying them!

Hi Debi--

I took these several years ago and they were between Ft. Mason and the Golden Gate Bridge, Chrissy Field area.  Haven't been down there in awhile, so not sure if they're still there.  The "Stoned at Donner Lake" subject was there for a couple of months before someone took it down....

Hi Robert--It was quite an experience walking through them.  Someone invested a lot of time and energy!   Or maybe the guys from Area 51 came and did it all overnight! ;- )

Hi Russell--

The link didn't work, but I googled Andy and found an amazing collection of his work.  Wow!  Yes, maybe he was a kid sitting in the countryside trying to figure out what to do with all those rocks!

Several years ago we were looking for a house, here in CO, and there was one with stacks of rocks, all over their yard.  I believe the homeowners were Asian, and I assumed it might be something cultural?  They were very pretty, and perfectly at home in a yard in the Rocky Mountains!

Good Morning Cheryl--Don't know about the cultural aspect, we see them all over CA.
