Where Has Donna Been- Coming out of Hiding

Well, I would like to apologize for my disappearance over the past few weeks. I've had a lot going on, and I ran into a snag. The snag being exhaustion!!

Baby Harris

I knew people would get tired while pregnant, but I never thought it would effect me the way it did. I'm a very active person, and I was left on a couch barely moving for almost 2 weeks. It took every bit of energy I had just to do the work I was doing. Every couple of hours, I would have to sit and rest for a few minutes and close my eyes. I was never able to actually take naps, but just closing the eyes helped a lot.

The picture above was from this morning (5/14/2007) at 11 weeks 5 days. We told the family yesterday for Mother's Day, and I'm now telling the world!!

Bottom-line, I've got some energy back, and I'll definitely commit to making the effort to keeping my blog more up to date!!

We're looking at an end of November date, 11/26-11/29. My bet is eating some awesome lemon meringue pie at Thanksgiving and rushing off to the hospital!!

Everyone, Meet Baby Harris!!

Donna, That is truly awesome!!! Congratulations. I've never had a baby so can't relate but my 5 grand children certainly wear me out:) Is this your first?

Hooray!  What great news for you!  I remember that feeling with my first pregnancy, taking naps at the office but determined not to say anything til I got to that magic 12 week mark.  Hope you have an easy time of it and get all the rest you can, you'll need it. =)

Bryant, yes, this is our first, thank you!  I told you last week that I had an announcement.  Pretty good reason for not being around, huh?  It wasn't "real" for my husband until today as today was the first appt he attended.  When he saw the ultrasound and the baby was doing flips and moving from side to side and waving his hand at us, he actually smiled, as he's a very serious engineer-type person.

Leigh, thus far, no morning sickness or anything, just that bout of exhasution which took me by surprise.  I'm back to swimming and walking the dog, so much more energy now.  Working from home allows me plenty of time to rest, so that's great and I'll be taking advantage of that!

Congratulations, Donna!!! Take lots of naps and enjoy your pregnancy.

Donna I am very excited for you and your husband and will keep you guys in my prayers.

Just some motherly advice I give this to all new moms.  Go with you instincts.  You know what is right for you and your baby.  I once had a doctor tell me to give the baby half and half because his was just average weight.  How silly.  Best of luck!  Sherry

Congratulations.  How exciting!  Hope you are able to keep your energy up.

Congratulations!!!  My babies are all grown up now 21 and 25 but I can still remember how exhaused I was.  It doesn't sound like you are having morning sickness so that is good.  For my first it was all day sickness until I was 3 months along.  I was one of those that said "NO children, me NEVER!!  I had to eat those words but I am so glad I did.

What  a wonderful Mother's Day present to share with your family.

Congratulations.... I am very excited for you!!!

You will get your energy back soon, though. I think it takes about 18 years. ;-)

But what motivation you have now.... and all the fun you get to decorate a baby room!!!

Congratulations Donna.  Your life is about to get very interesting.  We will pray for you and your family.

Thank you for all the kind responses.

Tom, I don't have 18 years to get my energy back!!  By the way, you're buying tomorrow, right??  I'm eating for 2!!  jk

Boy, I remember that sleepiness!  I felt bad about it (this was with my second), until my  husband started telling me, about 4 or 5 times a day, "You can do no wrong.  What you're doing is so important that nothing else matters," and, also, "Of course, you're tired!  You're working a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week job doing construction!"

He's still getting brownie points off that one, and the baby in question is 23 years old!

Congratulations!  You've just set off on a wonderful (and exciting, and terrifying) journey.

Congrats Donna - I 2nd what Tom said! I wish I could have stocked up all the "bedrest" time I had because with 2 year old twin boys, I stay exhausted. I have forgotten what it was like to feel rested! But I couldn't live without them - the MONSTERS that they are!

05/14/2007 05:48 PM by Leigh Bates, DFW Real Estate (Keller Williams)

Congratulations - you are due at the same time my daughter is - I remember my first  I was so tired by the time #3 came along the idea of a nap was a joke.  Enjoy them while you can

AWWWW COngratulations!  Rest, relax and enjoy the lull before the storm!  Your body is telling you so!

The next think you will know, your baby will be talking about college, like mine tonight!  Take time to smell the roses!

I look forward to baby Harris updates now!

Wow...congrats Donna!  That is great news!  Get sleep while you can!  I don't think I've had a solid night sleep in 4 1/2 years (the age of my oldest!!)

05/15/2007 08:06 AM by Ravi Shah (Prudential Fox & Roach, REALTORS® )

If the baby is anything like his/her father, he/she will sleep all the time, so I'm not too worried about that, at this point... I might eat those words in a few months.

Yes, the construction is 24/7 and no matter what I eat, I'm hungry 20 minutes later... I used to get annoyed when people would say they're eating for two, because they were only eating for 1 plus a bean size thing at the beginning, and even as the baby got bigger, it still wasn't an adult needing so much food...  Well, I have changed my mind on what concept!  This baby eats more than me!!

05/15/2007 08:38 AM by Donna Harris, ASP (Re/Max HiNet)

Donna:  Those probably won't be the last words you have to eat.  I remember saying "My kids will never do that" and then cringing when they did whatever it was that I said they would never do.

05/15/2007 02:42 PM by Marchel Peterson Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro ABR (Results Realty)

Marchel, "I will never be like my mother!"  just kidding....

05/16/2007 07:58 AM by Donna Harris, ASP (Re/Max HiNet)

Congratulations, Donna!!  Hopefully you'll be full of energy in the second trimester and raring to go.  Congrats also on no morning sickness!  You're blessed in many ways!  ;o)

Hi Donna,

Woo-hoo!  Congrats on your great news!  So happy for you and your hubby.  That's just wonderful news.  I also had that pregnancy fatigue.  Take naps now while you can - as they say, because later that little persosn won't be letting you do that.  Best wishes to you!

Here's something fun I set up.  Everyone, go to this website, and place your guess on the sex, date, time, and size of Baby Harris:

Donna, I'm late, but the Congrats are the same. I do remember the fatigue!

I never had an ultrasound, myself, so always marvel at them. Most of the time, I can't figure them out; someone has to tell me where the head is. :)

I bought my daughter one of those 3D Ultrasounds - very cool! Best to You!!

05/17/2007 01:08 PM by Indianapolis Real Estate | Paula Henry (ReMax Excel)

Paula, my husband is "scared" of the 3D and 4D ultrasounds.  He says that they used to think x-rays were safe and it turns out there weren't, and what if they find out later that too much ultrasound could be bad as well, so I'm not "allowed" to get one of those.

Phylena, Thanks!

Jack, Yes, I'm very tired!!  Last night was actually one of my best night's of sleep, but I've been so tired since about 1pm today... I would have thought I would have been refreshed all day, but BabyHarris says, "Think again!!"  I think BabyHarris is already a smart-arse!!

05/25/2007 08:50 PM by Donna Harris, ASP (Re/Max HiNet)

Oooh...  Too much information. :^)

It's a great time in your life, I'm sure.  Aren't ultrasounds awesome?   Unfortunately, the little tyke could be pretty tough on your Real Estate career.  Achieving the Balance is tough for Realtors.

05/25/2007 10:49 PM by Andrew Lietzow-MBA, e-PRO, SRES (Re/Max Real Estate Concepts)

Congratulations Donna!  I can still remember the exhaustion - almost 17 years later now - I can't believe I have an almost 16 yr old child now.  After month 4 you should really be getting back more energy. My advice is what my doctor said - catch up on things you really want to do (like movies you want to see and photo albums you want to get together - because once that baby comes - the next round of exhaustion strikes - NO SLEEP!)  All the best to you and your growing family!
