The weather was fine for the kick off of St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Kansas City yesterday. We walked up to the Brooksider, visited with friends, then stood along Meyer Blvd to watch the parade.

World's Window

Leading off, this year, was the World's Window shop.

AOH

The Ancient Order of Hibernians were represented.

Pipes

There's nothing like the sound of the pipes on a sunny day!

Man and dogs in hats

Dogs marched in the parade too!   Noah's Ark, The Humane Society, Brookside Barkery & Bath, and Adopt A Dog programs were all represented in this year's festivities. There were also a number of dogs amongst the parade watchers. All very well behaved.

Foreign Language Academy

Some of the schools with students marcihing were the Foreign Language Academy, Academie Lafayette,        St. Peter's School, and Christ The King.

children and candy

Children particularly prefer the floats and groups that distribute candy along the way.

Bike and Potato

Several bicyclists rode. The "potato lady" participates every year. The John Wornall House Museum joined in with about 2 dozen people dressed in period costumes.

Barbara, we attended the annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner tonight. No green beer though; Guiness or Harp. Tomorrow is the real parade after breakfast at Browne's. Enjoy your celebration!

Maria, what a fun family day!  Love the Irish heritage, wish that more cultural groups celebrated their heritage.
