Anyone know how to use an IRA to buy a house?

By
Real Estate Agent with Epcon Columbia, SC

Does anyone know how to use an IRA to buy a house?

I have a customer who would like to use their IRA to buy a house.  What is the best reference on how to do this.  Has anyone worked with a client who has done this?  How has it worked.

The home in question is about $230,000.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Study "self directed individual retirement accounts" or "self directed IRA".  It is being done.

If it is a first time home buyer, they can take a withdrawl, penalty free up to $10,000.  Hope that helps

Find Ken Cook.  If someone is going to know... Ken will know.  If he doesn't, he will know who will.

Can you take enough out to buy the house out right and pay back into the IRA like rent?
