What are you willing to give up to save some precious dinero?
Everybody would like to have some, preferrable more than less, but when you don't, something has got to give. Now that everybody and their cousin are pinching pennies and doing (or not doing) things that we would not even had thought living without a year or two ago - what are the things you are cutting back one?
BTW - This post was inspired by a post by Liz Moras "That's a little thing and I'm not going to let it bother me" or maybe it was really her other post "Speechless Sunday - A lesson in branding" - you have to see THAT photo! (Links will open in new window)

Are you having withdrawls?

Are you doing it yourself?

No wait, are you staying at your home office? (Ok, if guys answer this one... I won't comment back)

Are you not helping local establishments!!!

This I can surely do without

But my wife loves shopping

My Answer... pretty much all of the above. But I do need my CHOCOLATE! I am convinced it stimulates my brain function. LOL. And eventhough I haven't had one for... a really long time, I would love to have a pedicure.

Something to ponder........................hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Not spending money for one day
No dining out for one month.
We all need to simplify.

Hmmm, I have always been a cheap guy, so I really don't have a lot of wasteful spending. It is times like these that I thank my parents for teaching me the value of a dollar.
SHOPPING. No new clothes for almost two months.........
Thanks for the double mention Rita my friend - and i DO love your POst! Made me laugh as I just resorted to my Last Aid and popped three chocolate bonbons in my mouth thinking that its just a little thing and I'm not going to let it bother me! lol
We've cut back cable and my poor cats don't get the expensive cat food anymore. Other than that we've always been pretty frugal. It's the little things that matter.
Rita, Good points. I have cut out any unnecessary spending both corporately and personally until this economy turns around...
Your building consultant for life in Nashville, TN...
Rita, I can't live without my daily dose of Dunkin Donuts coffee. $2.11 for the extra large is a small price to pay. Business upgrades are taking a back seat. Rich
Reallyl a great post. You hae inspried me to put some of this into action.
Rita, I feel for your pain. I'd love to get a manicure but it's one of the things I've cut way back on. I'm always chipping a nail on a lock box anyway...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Hi Rita - I have really cut back on the shopping. I sounds like a woman - LOL
Bill - LOL, hmmmm... now what kind of shopping are we talking about?
Barb - yes, manicure would be nice too, maybe one day :)
Janice - I think we started by cutting back on eating out and shopping first...
Rich - it's funny how we get set to our routines of some fix or another daily - I don't drink coffee so I make tea at home, but I have to have diet soda (I guess I could live with out it).
Michael - lean and mean boys... lean and mean - also on the business spending
Pete - I would love to travel (I need a vacation!) hadn't even thought about that. We cut satellite but have cable
Robert - good for you (and your parents). Not that we have been or are extravaangt spenders but it's suprising how little things add up.
Geri - "not spending anything one day" - I guess I better stay home :)
Sandy - LOL I know I am so ready to go shop for new clothes, but waiting, waiting....
Kate - LOL about the cats, our kitty gets the cheaper kind too :)
Liz - ROTFLOL!!! We have to get together :)
That latte looks good as I am sipping a nice cup of joe this morning. I have been cooking at home more, and done very little shopping (unless it is necessary like Staples).
I am not seeing the e-mails in my inbox about new comments??? or in my AR home page either, strange
I don't like shopping so now I don't do it at all. I mean, I have a full closet and don't need anymore. I buy only what I need. What else? I have never been a big spender so I'm doing fine:)
Several times the hubs has had to move, ahead of me, to his new job location. He is always shocked that I am willing to cancel the cable, and (one time) the internet. I lost weight, got TONS of stuff done, and was packed and ready for the move when my turn came. Giving up stuff, sometimes makes room for new stuff that is better.
Ha Ha, thanks for the post we can all relate to. I'm doing it all, including the at home haircuts and making tons of caseroles from scratch. As a newish realtor in a resort town...it's interesting at the very least.
Mrs Rita,
I spent some dinero on my new St Patrick's day costume. It helped a local business and made me very happy.
Nutsy
Rita - so you gave up Brian in your pic??!!
Yep, we have cut way back on a number of things we simply don't need to do or have. We like to cook so eating at home almost all the time. But chocolate? Never will I give that up unless it becomes a health concern.
Jeff
Jeff - yes, as a request from Liz -it now me (for awhile on the pic). Brian is a great cook so I'm pretty set.
Nutsy - did you happen to buy any chocolate, my dear :)
Meris - yes, casseroles are a hot item in our household as well.
Cheryl - we have also been lugging stuff to goodwill left and right. Feels good.
