Colorado Dips Into Biotechnology

As a leader in many technologies, Colorado is positioned very well to also lead in the Biotechnology industry. This industry encompasses a broad spectrum of applications from diagnosis and treatment of human diseases to the development of technologies to produce higher yield agriculture.

Recently Colorado has stepped forward to support Bioscience technology by providing support in the form of funds. Last year the Governor signed a 5-year $26.5 million pakage to create a Bioscience and Life Science Fund that will be providing grants to Colorado start-up companies and research institutions seeking to build their businesses in biotechnology drugs, biofuels, medical devices and nanotechnology.

Bioscience has been focused in the old Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, where renamed as the Anschutz Medical Campus is developing a distinctive skyline of its own. The bioscience park has abundant space to house its current residents and may more to come. On the campus is home to the University of Health Sciences Center, Children's Hospital, U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases as well as many more.

For additional information about this emerging Bioscience Campus, view Colorado BioScience.

For housing in the area, I suggest looking at Stapleton, the site of Denver's old airport. It currently is a master-planned community with new and new(ish) housing, built green, with a very high walkability score.

Kristal, you're right about this one.  I think BioTech could be one of the really big fields going forward.  Our aging population (those other people - not us!) is going to want and need all the help it can get to stay healthy and productive.
