Okay, I admit it, Jay didn’t post a “Good morning Gentle Readers” post this fine Monday morning, and…well…it’s because I distracted him with a better offer! I dragged him up to Cyber Two Harbors before dawn. Why? You might well ask.
I got us a former Cyber Great Lakes fishing trawler. 70’ (waterline) hull length, with a beam of 24’, the boat is powered by a pair of 200hp Cummins Diesel (of course, biodiesel), oh never mind, this is a cyber-boat! It doesn’t need an engine!
Were it a real boat, it would have a maximum speed of 11 knots or about 13 mph. With 200 gallons of fuel, it has a maximum range of…aw heck, there I go again! A cyber boat’s range is unlimited!
So I oversaw Jay’s graphic artistry as he “built” the boat in Word, and I learned some new words. At my age, who’d a thought that possible! Jay really has an extensive, um, colorful vocabulary!
Then he asked: “Why are we building a boat? What would we use it for?”
“We could have our characters do all sorts of things, I can think of a hundred stories!” I told him. That was a mistake.
“OK Med,” he said, smiling, “YOU better start writing.”
“Only if I’m the Captain,” I said, knowing he didn’t have much patience left for drawing.
“OK, I’ll do it!” he said, “start writing.”
Crap!
