Newington Forest (over 1800 homes) is the largest subdivision in Springfield. It is located in the southeastern corner of the Springfield area of Fairfax County. Since construction began in the 70's and was completed in the 80's there are numerous features not to be found in many newer subdivisions.

- Lake Accotink Park with small boat rental, fishing and picnic facilities is approximately 15 minutes.
- Pohick Bay Golf Course - an 18-hole public course is approximately 15 minutes
- Pohick Bay Park with boat launch to the Potomac River, camping and picnic facilities is approximately 15 minutes
- Laurel Hill Golf Course - 18-hole public is approximately 10 minutes
