I have always enjoyed reading "Dear Abby" for several reasons.  My number one reason, however happens to be her knack for finding inspirational poems and stories then publishing them.  In her column today, she published a poem by Martin Buxbaum entitled "Success".  This poem moved me, especially with all the bad economic news filling up our newspapers, TVs, and computers.  I think it is nice to remember what really matters in life!  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Success

You can use most any measure

When you're speaking of success.

You can measure it in fancy home,

Expensive car or dress.

But the measure of your real success

Is the one you cannot spend,

It's way your kids describe you

when they're talking to a friend.

Hope you have a great Thursday!

How right you are-children are honest. I would love to hear how my children describe me.

You are so right, Jeanna.  When my kids were little and I would go up to their school, their faces would just light up.  I remember once my youngest running up, putting her arms around me and saying to her friends, "She's MY Mom."

That's sweet.  Now, if only I could understand what my daughter was saying when she's yappin' with her friends.  She swears she's having a conversation with me as I look at her blankly... but she's only 16 months.

Pat - Yes they are honest...sometimes too honest!

Shirley - That is such a great story!  It is nice to hear them say things like that!

Kristin - Thanks!

Donna - Nothing is sweeter than "baby babble"!  I am sure she is saying some amazing things! :-)

Jeanna, great poem! If the people that you care for don't think highly of you nothing else matters.

Very grounding poem.  I can't wait to take my 3 year old daughter to her first Spurs game.  Go Spurs Go!
