In Lucknow about 2,500 families are expected to benefit from the scheme which will provide them rights to 15 sq meter to 33 sq meter of land at the subsidised rate of Rs 20 per sq meter. Houses under the JNNURM and the Manyavar Kanshi Ram Shahri Garib Awas Yojana would also provide decent dwellings to the por and socially backward classes. "These schemes to provide housing to the slum dwellers and the poor would not only provide such people with decent dwelling units but also improve the cityscape" says Mr Meshram.

  

The Housing Commissioner, Deepak Kumar said that the UP Housing and Development Board is coming up with more than 1,000 housing units for the weaker section in Lucknow. He said that the UP Housing and Development Board is developing various schemes in all major cities of Uttar Pradesh to meet the requirements of the upwardly mobile as well as the weaker sections of the society. Among the various projects it is executing across the state the Vrindavan Housing scheme in Lucknow has emerged as a favorite among those wishing to own a house in the city.
