Given the current state of the economy I thought some job seekers (and employees) might be curious to know who is doing well these days.

I was reading the North Bay Biz's 2009 edition (the 19th annual) of the top 500 ranking businesses in the North Bay and some of the companies I found on there were a little surprising.  (If the banks, health care providers and car dealers are hurting, you may not know it by this list.)

Here are a few rankings that not necessarily surprised me, but certainly caught my eye:

1.  Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., with 2008 revenues of $5,900,000,000

2.  Autodesk, with 2008 revenues of $2,156,000,000

3.  State Farm Insurance, with 2008 revenues of $1,500,000,000
