Career Fair Etiquette

You would think that companies would have this down by now. Maybe they need to go back to school to learn about this thing called etiquette?

1. If you sign a code of conduct, follow it. Don't be forcing students to make an instant decision when you know you're supposed to give them at least 24 hours to say yay or nay.

2. It's rude to flat out ask who has given you job offers. I might as well ask if you're dating someone.

3. Please. Learn how to conduct an interview. If I ask you about benefits and how much you're going to pay, know the answers. Know what you're going to ask me- it's a waste of both of our times if you don't know where the interview is going.

4. We have to go from one side of campus to the other to do interviews- some are done at the Virginia Tech Inn and some are done at Smith Career Building. It's impossibe to get from one side to another and find parking in the 5 minues you have between a 1:00 and 1:30 interview. Be willing to work with studetnts, don't frown at us if we're late.

With that being said I feel like the career fair went a LOT better than last year. I'm just always surprised at what some companies try to pull. It's kind of amusing at the end, knowing that the Board will be having a stern talk with them.
