Aloha!  As a long time Mililani and Waipio Gentry resident on the island of Oahu, I would like to share a little information as well as a virtual tour from my own personal collection of pictures with all of you.

  • Hawaii became our 50th State on August 21, 1959 and was also known as the "Sandwich Isles". The Hawaiian Islands are from ....Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui and Hawaii (otherwise known as The Big Island)
  • Honolulu- Our capital as well as well as the most populated city in the State of Hawaii. It is located along the southeast coast of the island of Oahu and in the heart of Honolulu lies our main business district. (Honolulu consists of all the following neighborhoods and more!: Kapahulu, Waikiki, Makiki, McCully, Kalihi, Waialae, Kaimuki, Hawaii Kai, Salt Lake, Hickam AFB, Pearl Harbor Navy Station)
  • Mililani is the third most wealthiest zip code on the island of Oahu. Centrally located on the island of Oahu it is a Master Planned Community and has been growing since 1968. The older portion of Mililani to the west of Interstate H-2 is known as Mililani Town. The newer portion of Mililani to the east of Interstate H-2 is known as Mililani Mauka. Almost all of Mililani's commercial and retail centers are in Mililani Town. Waipio Gentry, Waikele and Wahiawa are also located in Central Oahu.

Historic Honolulu- Hawaii holds an enormous wealth of historic information so click on the prior link for more info! And, our Department of Education site can be found by clicking on the following linke for: Oahu Schools.

I put together a virtual tour with my own personal photos while driving around the island of Oahu a couple of years ago.  I hope you all enjoy the show.  Click on my following photo of the south side of Oahu on the way to Sandy Beach near the "blowholes"

David:  Yup...all of them I took with a crappy camera when Gary's gramma was here about three years ago...finally got to put them into something...and well worth it because we spent days upon days going around the island and to all the touristy spots for pictures for her....must have a few hundred....

What beautiful photos you took! It makes me miss Hawaii so much! I lived there for 5 years in the late 70's.

I live in Florida now and there is no comparison. I have lived all over the US west coast from California to Seattle and inland to Utah but never lived in a place as wonderful as my Hawaii. I am planning on moving back there in the next few years. Life is too short!

Give us more photos!

I am planning a trip to Hawaii. My husband did not like it so much when he went there on his first honeymoon. But they did the rush rush thing there, going to all the islands in a week. That is not the way to see Hawaii.

I told him he just was there with the wrong person! LOL.

I told him we need to go to there for 3-4 weeks and we are only going to Oahu and Maui. There is so much I want to show him. I want to see the neighborhoods where I lived so long ago.
