Having Trouble Making Mortgage Payments? Watch out for Scammers!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Benchmark Realty

As we all know, scamming and fraud is a threat to all of us. Anything from identity theft to basic call in or mail in scams. The commonality between most of the scammers is that they tend to hit people while they are down. They prey on older people and generally those of us that are desperate.

For those that have a Facebook or other social network I am sure at one time or another you have seen the small ad on the side that claims you can make $1,000 a day or how you can claim your $12,000 stimulus check from Obama.

This is all too common now with scammers trying to prowl on those that are behind with their mortgage. They are claiming that they are here to help with the President's foreclosure prevention plan. The problem is that they are asking $1,000 up front to pay for the service and then of course are never heard from again.

The Federal Reserve are asking that we follow some basic guidelines to prevent this from happening.

~ www.HUD.gov has approved counselors. GO WITH THEM!
~ Never pay upfront for services
~ If someone guarantees results then BEWARE!
~ Never sign anything without reading through it. If you have any questions about a form or wording then consult with an attorney, Realtor, or Lender.

Buzzards are always out there. IF you don't know what to do, call a knowledgeable realtor. That would be you. It's almost too simple
