Strange But True Trivia!

1. Texas is the only state that permits residents to cast absentee ballots from space.

2. In Pennsylvania, Ministers are forbidden from performing marriages when either the bride or groom is drunk.

3. Hypnotism is banned by public schools in San Diego.

4. In Michigan it's illegal to place a skunk inside your boss's desk.

5. In Kentucky, it is illegal to carry ice cream in your back pocket. glasses

6. During the time that the atomic bomb was being hatched by the United States at Alamogordo, New Mexico, applicants for routine jobs like janitors were disqualified if they could read. Illiteracy was a job requirement. The reason: the authorities did not want their trash or other papers read.

7. It's illegal in Alabama to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church.

8. In parts of Alaska, it's illegal to feed alcohol to a moose.

9. You're subject to fines and/or imprisonment for making "ugly faces" at dogs in Oklahoma.

10. In Hartford Connecticut, it is illegal for a husband to kiss his wife on Sundays.

i suppose someone caused a problem doing these things and someone else wrote a law to abolish it.

The new Mexico one is the most interesting. Now that is really discrimination, in current times.

So incredible and funny! But the one from Hartford, Ct., illegal kissing... I don't understand.... ;)

Lara,... #8 drunken moose!... Once, when traveling by train, the train actually hit a moose and it wasn't pretty... We were stranded in the middle of no where for several hours because of the moose. So yeah.. no drunken moose... :)

I get everything else, but feeding alcohol to a moose-surelt that goes too far?

What I like is that in some parts of Alaska it's illegal to give a moose alcohol, but where in Alaska is it legal to do so? Makes you wonder... thanks for a good laugh! Cheers, I needed that more than you know!

Hey, Lara.

Back when I was at Texas A&M in the 1970s, my roommates and I found a book in the library that I think was titled "Not Just Texas." I had it at one time, but I think that's not the title because it should be available somewhere online. Anyway, it had a few thousand interesting laws from the various states, some repealed but some still in effect. My hometown of Kingsville still has one in effect that I think concerns walking your pig down main street on Sundays. As George Carlin would say, "They passed these laws because someone did that!" LOL

Russel - I love George Carlin and it does seem that someone must have done these strange acts at some point.

Barbara - I bet you are right. There is probably a bizarre law in every state.
