Michael- I think the term "up to $8.000" is important to state. Many of us have been saying "Mr. First time homebuyer -you get $8,000. Good Post.

Thanks Debbie for the comment. The tax credit is equal to 10 percent of the home’s purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000.  So if a homebuyer must purchase at least an $80,000 property to be eligible for the $8,000 tax credit.  First-Time Homebuyers cannot have owned a property in the past three years.
