I ask myself? Could it be? On Saturday the sellers agent on a SS where I represent the buyer called me and said she just received a call from Countrywide (they work on Sat hmmm?) go figure! We've been waiting for something, anything since the offer was written on Dec 8th, 2008. They are NOW escalating the file. I'm so tempted to break out in my "happy dance" but I know better, and will choose to wait until we get to close! Oh...wait..maybe I'll just do a toned down version of my happy dance in honor of the word ESCALATING!

The redemption period is up on May 7th. My client has been a trouper and since we've come this far why bail now. I'm interested to know, how many agents here have closed SS that involved Countrywide? Also, do you see any improvement lately? TimeDo we have enough time?

I haven't heard of short sales going too far beyond the three-four month mark, so I would say there's a very good chance of getting this done prior to May 7.  Kudos to your buyers for having the patience to wait this out.  Good luck.

As a buyer's agent I can understand the frustration. I've listed and sold about 4 Countrywide controlled short sales last year. Here's what I tell buyer's agents that ask if it's C-wide, "Every transaction is different, regardless of which bank it is, some are lightning quick and some are slow as molasses. C-wide doesn't have a monopoly on slow, they are just inundated. Haven't you had slow and quick transactions with other lenders? So it's not the lender, it could be anything affecting the speed (grumpy negotiator, inexperienced listing agent, etc). So advise your clients well, coach them to either stay the course, keep looking for others, or both."
