McKenzie Junction sits at the top on Hard Scrabble between Wetmore and Westcliffe. From there you can head south toward Bishops Castle and Rye. It is literally a cross roads for people to meet up, bike rides to start and animals to stop traffic. McKenzie sits in Custer County and in the San Isabel Forest. Every where you look are views of Hardsrcabble Creek, Granite Walls and wild life. Normally not a destination but a point to travel thru or around, McKenzie Junction is a beautiful place to stop and enj oy the Wet Mountains.

Nice! I plan on taking my kids on Regional and National Forest mini-vacations this year. San Isabel is on our list. :)

I've been through here at least a hundred times and never knew the name of the place. Thanks!

That's not too far from where we go snowmobiling, (and where I almost lost my son this winter-but that's another story). You're right about Bishop's Castle! That place is so cool!  There's always something new there everytime I go!

I keep thinking I'm going to drive over one day and take pictures of Bishops Castle, give everyone on A.R. something to talk about.

I've got some here somewhere that were taken last summer when my son and nephew came to visit.. I'll see if I can find them!
