This is incredible . . .

I've always liked tomatoes, but tonight I think I'm in love.  The Real Estate Tomato gives me hope I can finally, after years of frustration, get a divorce from Microsoft Word.  Can it be so?  I won't even shed a tear.  Check out his article about this wonderful new technology -- Writely and do what I did.  Go sign up and write your first document.

This is where I'll insert a photo to see how that works.  It does.  I'll have to tweak it a little, but it's a good start.  Think of the ramifications.  According to this little workspace, I can collaborate with my writing, I can publish it (even to a blog) and I can make revisions.  Another toy to play with.  Obviously this first attempt is rudimentary at best, but I want to share this with you so you can play too.  Just remember, this site is in beta.

Kristal, apparently if your blog is with blogger, wordrpess or a number of others you can post directly from Writely.  However, when I tried it this morning I got an error message, so I'll have to figure it out.  I, like Alexander, cut and pasted when I posted this to my other blog.

If anyone figures it out before we do, please holler.

Otherwise I'm loving it and I haven't begun to scratch the surface.

I had an error with my wordpress blog too.  Couldn't figure it out.  I just got performancing working for the other blog, but this would be a great tool to add too.

WOW, the excitement we've caused Geri...

I should have posted this article weeks ago when I first wrote it.  It was actually the first article I had written using Writely, and I just let it sit there, saving it for a (active) rainy day when I had nothing else to say.

What about IntelliContact?  Has anyone gone and checked this out yet?

I recommended this one more than I did Writely... which I think we can agree is The Bomb.

Jim,  I'm loving it.  Would this be considered viral marketing.  It certainly has infected a lot of people, and I suspect it's the tip of the iceberg.  I posted about it on my other blog as well.

Thanks Geri,  I was hoping for  automatic download, but cut and paste works for me.  I like the idea I can save my thoughts for later development...that is very cool.

Eventually they will (or we) will work out the bugs with the publishing aspect.

Another Google alternative to MS!  I love it!  And, I agree that ole Bill is most likely drinking heavily right about now.  LOL

Good, informative post Geri.  Thanks for the link to "the Tomato" post too. :-)

I've Always Liked Tomatoes, but tonight...

Ok now I get it! I feel a little like I had 3 heads! But after reading the posts I see that all we have to do is copy and paste so I'm going to give this a try and see how it works.

Also wanted to try a tableWow
Cant' beliveHow easy
That wasRight in the actual blog

Can't seem to figure out how to edit a table. Perhaps, someone with 1 head could give me a blow by blow instruction for table editing.

And now for colors here is a choice but how about background

So here I highlighted the background

I like this. Thank you for letting us know about it and as for "The Tomato" ... I guess I'd best check your blog out more often.

Whoever knows the secret on editing in Writely, please let me know.

Gena,

If you right click within the cell of the table you can make changes to each cell independently.  I'm not sure if that answers your question.  If not, step up to the plate.

How simple...thank you Geri. Obviously I didn't try right clicking before but desperately looked all over the bar for edit. If I had a photo with four heads, I'd replace this one.

Geri,  You have just made a huge contribution to the AR community...did you realize this would happen?

I love it.  I adore it.

You are awesome!  Thx for sharing!

Now, this one I'm doing right here. What I noticed was that I copied without saving and without looking at how the blog would look once it is posted. That has a significant difference in the outcome of the product. Where your blog was centered and mine was not. Don't know if I made that real clear or not but in other words, where I thought I had finished the blog and copied was the wrong place to be copying. Still need to give it another go!

Kristal, I had a feeling everyone would be as excited as I was, that's why I was so surprised when there seemed to be no reaction at all last night.  I'm so glad you love it, I do too.

Gena.  I tried the first one without tables and the second with and I'm still no expert, but yes, you should preview it as a blog post and copy and paste that.  You can also change the settings for the width of the blog, so play with it.

I am using this for the first time.  [Edit Title...]

I am using this for the first time. This is awesome! Thank you Geri (and Real Estate Tomato). I missed the previous post on it.

Guess it will take some time getting used to.

P.S. How do you copy and paste and leave out the "edit title"?

Karen,

When you copy and paste don't "select all" just copy what you want and you won't get the extraneous stuff.  Once you have it however, just click on it and delete.

I'm loving it more and more with each attempt and I know I'm still in kindergarten with it.

Karen, When I first noticed that "edit title" it was on Alexander's post at another location.  My evil mind quickly told me to "have some fun" with it.  But alas, the link requires a password.  Here I was giggling with joy, thinking of changing the title on him....

Did I mention to Geri how much I lOvE this WrItElY thing?

Kristal,

Let me know when you come to Brooklyn, maybe we can get together for brunch, lunch, dinner???

FYI, we allow Brooklyn to call itself part of New York. :-)
