You are driving down the road and see a sign in the yard. Not a for sale sign, but a sign that says Roofing by XYZ Co, Landscaping by XYZ company or Siding by XYZ company. Why not have a sign in front of the yard that says Home Staging by your company or Redesign by your company?

Signs are inexpensive. They capture attention. They get your name known in the community.

Don't forget to put your name, phone number, and web address (in big letters so that it can be seen from the road) on your sign!

That is BRILLIANT.  Customers love model homes- while it might compel an abundance of "curtain-pullers", a resale that's been staged is equally compelling to prospective buyers.  I'm emailing Val at Staged2Sell right now...

I have been using signs now for over a year that has our company name and logo. I find them to be beneficial for lived-in homes, but I'm very cautious advertising staging a vacant home (especially when everyone and their brother knows). I'll check back at the end of the day to see what others have said.  I'm definitely interested in others opinions.  Thanks, Teri.

I have thought about this as well.  I am just in the process of getting my vehicle signage done.  I may look into this next.

A big calling card! But make sure you get permission from the owner first and check with city ordinances, here in Dallas, in some parts, you can't put signage on the "swale" (the right of way btwn. the sidewalk and street) you can get fined big time! One realtor I know had to go to court to get the fine reduced or dropped.

Terri, Why Not? I don't see anything wrong with this idea. Make that part of your agreement.

I don't think we should advertise the home as staged as the perception from buyers may be that we are covering up something or the home sellers are asking more because it is staged.

I have just started using signs. I think they are great.  Put your name on it you did the work and be proud. Buyers are going to think what they want to think the realitors have the disclosers on the home and they deal with the price. we as stagers get the home ready for sell.  That is our job!

I too agree with Sandra, there is already a sign from the agent( hopefully) in the yard, too many signs = clutter. My goal is  to enhance  the selling process .Buyers will be curious, but may be leary of making an offer for fear of being overpriced & or misleading.I do not want to jeapardize my relationship with the seller or agent. This is a tricky one, I would  just have to settle with  the referrals! Being a Realtor,  I would not advise it...

I had thought too about the yard clutter and too many signs.  Sometimes when I stage houses for HouseCapades already there is the agents sign and the HouseCapades sign.  I think mine would just get lost in the jumble.

We have used our sign many times - with great success!  Of course, you do your homework:  make sure ordinances allow it, check with the homeowner and realtor, find out if it is perceived a good thing within the locale.  Staging answers the 3 Ps of marketing:  Price - is justified, Product is enhanced, Promotion - Staging is a unique marketing tactic.  Thank you for all your great posts!

I am tossing around the idea of having an inside sign especially in vacants.  Feature sheets are left on the kitchen counter or diningroom table so that would be a great place to add a sign showing that the home was staged.  There is always the possibility that a potential buyer will be impressed enough to enquire about your services for their sale.  Every bit of advertising helps the industry.

I use signs as well, but I have run into objections from a realtor or two.  Even though my agreement is with the homeowner, my relationship is with the realtor so I have agreed not to use them when asked.

Thank you everyone for your great comments. I am not sure that I would worry about a sign in front of a vacant home any more than a realtor would his sign, but it is something to think about. I do like the idea of a small table top type sign for inside, especially if the city or realtor does not want one outside.
