BONSAI Inspection Company is a full-service inspection and consulting company dedicated to serving Greater Boston and the South Shore.

My mission is to provide customers with the personalized attention and necessary knowledge and support needed to make an informed decision.

Being an inspector is no longer just having a truck, a ladder, and some construction background. Educational background, experience, and a strong determination to stay ahead of the information curve are what set a great inspector apart from an average one in this rapidly developing industry.

My unique educational background and previous employment sets me apart from most inspectors. It allows me to evaluate properties and systems from both a scientific and engineering standpoint.

Previous to entering the world of building inspection, I spent 8+ years working in high-tech, where I developed skills in scientific analysis, systems design, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, and my exceptional abilities in verbal communications and formal report writing.

I have performed over 2,900 building inspections since 2000. As the owner of BONSAI, I continue to invest time and effort on a daily basis developing more skills and more services to help provide the best quality service I can.

I carry state-of-the-art, high-tech equipment with me on every inspection, including a non-contact moisture detector, carbon monoxide analyzer, combustible gas detector, thermal anemometer, draft gauge, hygrometer, and a variety of other meters and sensors, and a FLIR B-CAM. This equipment helps me help customers get the most information!

Services Provided

BONSAI provides all of the 'Standard' Inspectional services, including: Termite/Wood Destroying Insect inspections (a FHA/VA approved NPMA-33 form is included, along with a valid Mass State Pest License number), and AccuStar Radon gas kits.

All BONSAI Home Inspections meet or exceed the required Massachusetts Standards of Practice  (266CMR 6.00). Commercial Inspections are performed in accordance with Inter-NACHI's Commercial Inspection Standards (ComSOP2008).

Using state of the art diagnostic tools as part of every inspection service, BONSAI will deliver a clear, concise, and easy to understand report on all of the property's readily accessible major systems and components, including:

• Structural: Foundation, sills, joists, beams, support columns, retaining walls
• Exterior: Siding, windows, decks, porches, gutters and downspouts, driveways, general landscape condition
• Roofing: Roofing materials, flashings, and chimneys
• Plumbing: Piping materials, fixtures, faucets, water heating systems
• Electrical: Wiring, service panels, lighting, switches, and receptacles
• Heating, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps 
• Fireplaces
• Interior: Ceilings, floors, railings, doors, windows, and stairs
• Insulation and Ventilation: Attic and basement 

          In addition, the following services are available:

• Mold/Air Quality Testing:  - I offer a full-range of Mold detection and testing services, including initial testing, complete home surveys, post-remediation testing, and client consultation. All testing is done using certified laboratories, and results can be turned around in as little as 48hrs. BONSAI can take control on any suspected mold found in a home, or by other home inspectors and guide the process through to completion while keeping clients calm and informed. Basic Mold Assessment services can be added to any home inspection - immediately eliminating another common buyer concern and moving things ahead.
• Radon Gas Testing: Radon gas testing available using the AccuStar Labs CLS-100r dual liquid-scintillation vial testing OR the Sun Nuclear 1027 Continuous Radon Monitor. 
• Infrared Thermal Imaging:  This exciting new technology allows for viewing areas in the infrared spectrum and easily locates differences in temperature not visible to the naked eye. Using thermal imaging, I can help confirm or refute unresolved findings from other inspections/inspectors, including: Foundation or structural issues behind finished walls; HVAC equipment faults; Moisture intrusion in ceilings/behind walls/around plumbing fixtures; Pipe and plumbing leaks; Radiant heat issues, and even wood boring insect damage! Basic Thermal Screening can be added to any home inspection providing the buyer an additional layer of assurance that all is well. 
• Above ground Oil Tank Certification:  I offer state of the art EPA-approved ultrasonic testing technology to assess the condition of above ground residential oil tanks quickly and economically. Don't settle on questionable visual results from other inspectors or wait days for the oil company: Get immediate results at reasonable rates. Or, have your listing's oil tank pre-certified. This service is included with all Premier Service inspections, providing the buyer with yet another tangible, valuable, additional service, especially in today's heating oil market!
