Wow!!!!  That's the only way to describe the current Real Estate market.  Most home owners have been shocked by the declining values in their neighborhoods due in part to a shaky economy and loss of consumer confidence.  Know what?  We will survive.  Over time, maybe very slowly, we will come-out of the economic malaise in which we find ourselves.  And when this happens, home values will indeed rise once again.  "So what", you ask.  My point is that NOW is the time, especially for individuals who have never owned a home before, to get out there and take advantage of buying opportunities that haven't presented themselves in decades.   Low interest rates + low prices + generous tax credits = the buying opportunity of the century!

Areas of Expertise and Experience

I have been a Licensed Realtor since 1994.  Real Estate was actually a third-career for me.  Originally, I started out as a teacher of Business employed by the Grosse Pointe Public Schools.  I taught at both South and North High Schools for a period of eleven years.  During that time, I was a Cooperative Education Coordinator for the Marketing program.  Upon leaving education, I founded and co-owned a large , Home Health Care company.  As Financial Vice President, I helped the business to grow into a multi-million dollar concern employing over one-hundred.  My interest in real estate began at this time when I was responsible for the planning and construction of a new company headquarters.

In 1994, my new interest in real estate led me to obtain a license in the State of Michigan and eventually begin working for Sine Realty, at that time, a relatively small brokerage.  Over the passing years, Sine has become Sine & Monaghan GMAC, one of the most successful real estate brokerages in Grosse Pointe.  Our current three offices and one hundred agents allow us to service a five-county market with efficiency and ease.

Although I have Commercial clients, my true love is Residential property.  Since 1994, I have assisted hundreds of clients in the sale or purchase of homes.  Maybe it's the "teacher" in me, but I do enjoy working with first time buyers who often need "extra care" in their search for the perfect new home.  Lots of looking, lots of questions, lots of hesitation - before a decision and purchase are made - that sums-up the first time buyer.  I spend more time with them, but the satisfaction derived from the experience is well worth the trouble.

Whether they are "first-timers", referrals, or "long-time" clients, I do my best to provide the best of service to each and all.

One of the nicest compliments I've ever received came from a relieved Seller who had just successfully closed on the sale of his beautifully updated Detroit home.  He pulled me aside after the happy Buyer had left the Title office with keys in-hand.  "Tom", he said, "Now that it's all over, I want to tell you how pleased my wife and I are to have worked with you as our listing agent."  "We were continually impressed with the level of service you provided and the professional attitude you always displayed."  "We would have gladly paid you TWICE the commission charged in recognition of your hard work, honesty and diligence shown to find the perfect new owner for our much-loved home."

I would have liked "twice the compensation" for working on that deal, but believe it or not, his heart-felt compliments that day meant far more to me.  My goal as an agent has always been to WOW my clients with SERVICE that they will appreciate and talk about me with friends, neighbors and relatives - some of whom will become my newest clients one day.
