Engage-Explore-Expand Your Horizons
People have been drawn to the richness of Starved Rock Country for generations. Heritage Harbor Ottawa is located in a region that is famous for unique outdoor recreational opportunities and abundant natural resources, with a nostalgic reverence for a less complicated way of life and a sense of community lacking in bigger towns and cities.
Heritage Harbor is a special place...especially if you are looking to engage, explore and expand your horizons. If you are seeking a connection to something that seems timeless while yearning to explore new activities, experiences that fit your passions are waiting for you when you come home to Heritage Harbor.
The Heritage Harbor Story
As the former CEO and chairman of Resource Information Management Systems, Inc. in Naperville, Illinois, Tom Heimsoth was at the helm of a national leader in health-care software and outsourcing services for many years. In 2000, he sold the company to The TriZetto Group (Nasdaq TZIX). He stayed with TriZetto until 2002, when he retired to pursue his interest in real estate development and investment. He has been involved in these activities for years, but only on a part-time basis.
Continuing his record of building solid businesses, Tom now owns several entities successfully invested in real estate, but Tom is involved full-time in Heritage Harbor. He was always interested in developing a marina-based resort community in partnership with his son Jeff, who owns and operates marine dealerships in Illinois. Heritage Harbor not only represents the achievement of that goal, it's their pride and joy.
It's a chance to protect, and even enhance, a place of stunning natural beauty. It's a chance to make charming Ottawa a synonym for great vacations. A chance to give Chicagoland at least one getaway that isn't far away. A chance to give families a lifetime of warm and wonderful memories. It's a legacy. Heritage Harbor, a legacy...of the very best kind.
Starved Rock Country: Life Is An Adventure...Live It Here!
Historic Ottawa is the perfect setting for a place like Heritage Harbor. Lincoln and Douglas still cast their great shadows in Washington Park, where they first debated the fate of the Union. Historic homes and churches take you back to a time of ball gowns and high-stepping horses, and the I&M Canal recalls the booming energy of a young nation. From its magnificent murals to its charming Old Town, the rich tapestry of Ottawa's past awaits you.
The natural, archaeological, and historic heritage available in Starved Rock Country allows you to experience the nature of life along the riverbanks. From Ottawa to Starved Rock, all along the National Historic Scenic By-way to the nature preserve near Havana, you can experience the seasonal colors and rhythms of the forests, rivers, wetlands, bluffs and prairies that make Starved Rock Country unique.
Our location is our greatest natural advantage.
